hey lina! i saw that you mentioned on BEP you needed a review for the Letterman show...so here i am, you're one-man resque-squad...or...umm...something like that. hehe, i think it's actually just a case of being bored off my ass and finally getting around to old BEP mails ;) anyways, here goes something:

After some boring sketch about a man's new car and it's hapless victims who have to ride in it, after good lettuce is pointlessly chopped up by a lawnmower on top of a man's mouth, and finally after the seemingly endless wait for Björk to grace The Late Show with David Letterman, the time came.

She is seen on the stage, wearing a lovely black/yellow/white Alexandre Matthieu dress with her back arched as she cranks the knob of her fancy Porter music box. Pagan Poetry's first notes begin to surface, importantly filling my t/v's speakers with it's urgency.

She begins, "pedalling through, the dark currents..." The song swells in it's beauty while the Inuit Choir chants "swirling black lilies totally ripe." The choir seems very happy to be there, they sway with the tune. "Was ever such an interesting mix of artists on that Letterman stage before?"
I quietly answer back in my head, "methinks not!"

Then comes the song's strong closing, "I looove him, I looo-ooove him, I looove him, I looo-ooove him"...Björk's brow begins to furrow as the reverie begins to regain it's composure, and she half-heartedly tells herself, "this time, I'm gonna keep it to myself"...until she decides that, "he makes me want to hand myself over!"

Zeena was amazing on the harp, Matmos were busy at their laptops, Björk sent chills through at least one Björk fan's spine as she sung his favorite new song on a popular television show...

There was a tiny interview when the last commercial break ended, if that's what you want to call it. We got a few clear "yeps" out of Björk and she explains to David that the Inuit girls have on their national costumes. She was cute and didn't need to say anything anyways, since of course, the music always seems to speak for itself.

+ the whole of my life -- quietly ecstatic +
