HI Just to read lynxo review plus heard mp3 of this gig made me want to send a kinda "vintage" yet review. I would just say i was over excited before this concert because i love Bjork's music ilove matmos n i love zeena too ( i didnt love da choir yet it was the first time i heard them). I arrived as soon to see the matmos set i was just bit sad because no lot of persons took time to listen to them n i thought they do a very gorgeous generous n interesting work for this tour N' in general. After matmos set when the first Bjork set began i was thrilled it was over emotional for me in a way because to heard so well her music was gorgeous but i think i did not figure out the bjork personnality really i mean i just approach her throught her music but i never realize she was B. it was very interesting in a way because she is very comunicative by her music n by her attitude n the way she did all her videos n pics was in a way so near n close to her music n to herself it was really weird it was like seing bjork esthetism n sound but just n just feel her human presence but not all in the same way . ( IT IS A HARD THINGS TO EXPLAIN PLUS IM FRENCH N I DUN HAVE A VERY GOOD ENGLISH) During the first set i just feel heavily this music which was so beautiful n elegant n kinda polite in a glamorous way i loved sound of the instrument (especially instruments of zeena in anchor song )n i loved the way matmos played B's songs . I think it was very gorgeous n generous music n the voice of bjork is so beautiful n different from all records too IT was really special to hear this music.i loved too bjorks dress (very glamor from m pejoski) (i just was terribly confuse when a part of people applause during generous palmstroke) the second set was terribly moody in a way i loved the track list n the the loud dimension matmos gave at this set in a way. i loved da pictures on the wall too . I really appreciated Bjork sang "le petit chevalier" its was totally tiny. Then Bjork jump cryng three time during Human behavior which i found very generous I just would have more place to dance during its in our hands (we were stand up since some songs) i liked very much bjork's way to dance which is very heavy sensitive with her music i found n' i loved her red dress too. This second set was marvellous n loud in a very elegant n beautiful way. I just wonder if i should not listened to the mp3 of this gig because i remember it ten times better n a mp3 of a live will never be as emotional as a live so i might shouldnt n keep it as it in my mind i just send this review to keep it as the "very first time" THE GIG WAS GORGEOUS BJORK MATMOS N' ZEENA N' ALL THE MUSICIANS WERE TOO it would just be more interesting if it would be played without sono as we could heard from where came the sound n heard better bjorks voice ( or maybe just some instruments unplugged ) but i was defenitely fantastic i would say thank u to Bjork and all the musicians it was a very interesting n pure moment in my life i hope u could understand my reviews (french people will i think) n i hope is heresis a kinda laptime in this review it will give an interesting n more emotional truthfull way to it (as i mostly say to a pote) so thanku have glamorous time (+special thanks to lynxo who have been a very polite n nice people sat just near me) JEANPHI Hi there! I know I am late in posting my review of the 1st of Nov concert, but as I was reading through the new reviews, I felt I wanted to share my feelings with all those who were lucky enough to go thru this magical experience and with those who were not able to do that and I hope they will have the chance in the near future. Well, there isn't much more to say, but I would like to tell you that it was worth travelling all the way from Jordan to France just to see Bjork. I hope I will be able to see her again in Paris or anywhere else. I still can't realise that I really saw Bjork and all the concert was for real!!! I kept on reminding myself during the concert that this is for real and not a recording!!!! I wish Bjork all the best and I wish all her fans to see her live at least once in their life time! Thanks to all who made this dream come true. Thanks to my friend Aram who bought the ticket for me and to the person who helped do that. without you both, this dream would have never came true! Regards to all. Lynxo. Thursday November 1st, 2001 was a day I would like to live eternally. Sunshine all day long with an exceptional concert to close this special day. I saw Björk 4 times since the beginning of the year (Paris, Roubaix, Brussels). The Théâtre des Champs Elysées concert was the greatest ! Matmos performance : I begin to appreciate this American Group and understand Björk's choice to bring them in her worldwide tour. They are two "handymen composers" full of sensitivity and humor (a Napoleon amongst them !). When Björk arrived on stage I quivered. Frosti. Magical. Time is suspended. I'm with angels, feathers are falling over Björk. I take pleasure in the moment. The concert is different from the three others before ; Björk chose for the first part, to mix Vespertine titles and older ones. Quiet and full of emotion. I cried during "Unravel", a splendid version of Diva with naked foot. How good it was to cry to a so immense emotion ! First part was an absolute success despite the absence of Canadian singer Tagaq. During the break I shared my feelings with my girlfriend while drinking Champaign. I appreciated. Second part begins by an extract of "Dancer in the Dark" by the orchestra, followed by an amazing version of "Army of Me" arranged by Matmos ! Second part is much more active. When Björk begins to sing the splendid "Pagan Poetry" I'm in the video clip. Exaggerated romanticism. What a Love declaration ! Björk sings "I love him", the Choir answers "She loves him" : this is LOVE. What a show ! (Run to see the video clip!). As the concert goes on, the fans are in trance. She says "Merci beaucoup" : everybody shouts ! This night the audience was excellent and Björk, as a gift, sang a small French song "Le Petit Chevalier". Star and fans are on the same wavelength and on "Human Behavior" she dances, shouts, plays at making funny faces as a child and changes of style with so much ease. At the end I came towards the stage to be closer. All the audience dances with Björk : She and Us are happy together ! Björk introduces her musicians, Matmos, Zina Parkins, The Inuit Choir and Simon Lee. I would have appreciate she did so with the orchestra. The concert ends by "Our Hands" on which Björk dances with energy : she's amazing ! It's the end, lights are turned on, the stage is now empty but I'm still under Her Spell. She is my favorite singer, a real artist who has given me an intense and deep pleasure. I've seen this concert with children eyes, Björk gave me the shivers, made me dream. Hard to get back on Hearth ! Björk thanks for all you offered us during this show, thank you from the bottom of my soul. Stephane Chemin chemin@fullsix.com I met Björk for the 1st time at her Théâtre des Champs-Elysées exhibition last Thursday (on November 1st 2001) as my lover is one of her greatest fan !! This was heaven on earth… I can’t compare with any other of her concerts, but during two hours I was carried along by her sensitivity, her imagination, her poetry, her energy… Two hours of her magical presence on stage… and since images and songs are in my mind all day long… No one before - I mean no other artist before - made this to me ! This was a real great concert, performing an immense creativity with so much sensitivity… We were about two thousand all enthusiastic, dancing and singing with her at the end !! Thank you my love for offering me this magical gift ! Thank you Björk to be as you are : above all, keep on being like that, please protect yourself from the surrounding stupidity… I am waiting with impatience for you next Creations ! Florence Hello dear mwc!!!!! After the gigs at ste chapelle and colisee roubaix, i can say it was the best concert EVER!!!!!!!!!!!she was wonderful and she looked to be very happy ...AS THE FANS... thonyknoll@aol.com Hello everybody, Hello Bjork. For the fifth time in France i, with my wife Laurence, saw Bjork on stage. Every time, even the so-called dissapointement in "La mutualité", it has been a life experiment. The only comparison i could do is with french artists who are legends: Piaf and Brel. Of course i didn't, being 40, have the opportunity to see them live, but what i saw of them on tape always gave me the envy to see live people who would give the audience the same emotionnal thrill, the same generous donation of themselves, the same passion and love... So... Bjork was au "Théatre des champs-élysées". It is a nice place, a very nice place, and the first surprise was that it was not al all a VIP atmosphere. I just saw a young couple of french actors, isabelle Carré and Clement Sibony, but they were real this night! Real people, you know what i mean, real people who just came to see Bjork for the second time in 2 months. Why? Because we love her, love her music, love her person, in total respect. The crowd as always is very respectuous, i like this respect atmosphere very much. So real people in the crowd... was there real people on stage? She's real allright, she's alive and well in Paris, and we thak her for that. Everybody was real anyway, the choir and all. I won't give you the songs, Bjorkounette gave the list, but i will give my feeling of the concert. At some point it was the most touching concert i ever saw, in my life... because i felt she was not perfect, the breathing voice "sometimes" was not as fluid as we had the opportunity to hear it during other sets, but... she delivered an incredible will to overcome these tired moments, to give us the best that she believes has to be given to us. I, with my wife Laurence, had the same feeling. She was closer than ever, as she had to hold things not to break, but couldn't help to deliver them. I felt she was delivering a child at each song, the beginnings of "some" songs were on the edge but she managed to end the songs with an unbelievable power, a life power, the power of a woman delivering alone in the sheer nature. She invites us in her intimacy, and we respect her for that. This show was out of sight, thrills, tears ands chicken goose pimps in my arms, in my neck, all over my back... without anything guys, no dope, no alcohol, no smokes. We came with two friends, Pierre and Sandrine, who saw her for the first time. They thanked us to have pushed them to come. Sandrine who is an amateur choir singer was shattered with tears and talked about this concert as being the emotionnal live musical expêriment of her life. For the fifth time in Paris the bjork Concert proved once more that she's an absolutely unique high class performer, and that his concerts are a need to be for life lovers. SHARE is the key word. SHARING with the audience. Dear Bjork, thank you for coming to see us in Paris, you'll, as you know, always be welcome here... with much warm and respect. Keep on doing what you have to do, we'll follow you. Nicolas and Laurence. Paris/France. Hello ! Yesterday it was the TCE gig !
