| Here is one thing I firmly realized through her music is....good music can let people have peaceful and happiest moment, which makes people get along with. Listening her music then closed my eyes, and felt the beat, I saw the scene in my mind that all audience hold hands. I thought that's one of the reason why Taliban prohibited to listen any music as well as all things of beauty. They just wanted to erase all that they cannot control. Looking forward to going her concert again. Bjork said "Arigato" several times during her concert, but in fact I would like to say "Thank you" to her. Thank you, Bjork.... your voice did heal my heart...... Tossy from Tokyo Bjork. Where to begin? A virginal live viewing of the performer and I was not to be disappointed. Apprehension and nervous anxiety overwhelmed me as I waited with baited breath for the diminutive figure to appear. A single spotlight, snowflakes, and there she sat, centre stage, ready to perform her magic on an already spellbound, packed auditorium of devotees. Bjork enticed, opening with All Is Full Of Love - a beautiful crystal voice, so gentle, but with a depth unobtainable from the mass of wannabees. I was speechless song after song, stirring and heightening my emotions way beyond my expectations. For me, my favourites included Isobel, Pagan Poetry, and Hyperballad. The first of these performed in an outlandish (but perfectly fitting) red feathered dress. Her hips swaying rhythmically, she displayed genuine love and respect for her work, almost like a childish secret she wanted to share with us. She appeared vulnerable but so confident, naive but worldly, and every other contradiction you can imagine. As she pounded a bare foot on her stage, shook her head and fluttered swans wings, she mesmerized the audience (and indeed herself) with exceptional passion - wow! Hyperballad was truly awesome resounding in a deserved standing ovation. A fantastic night - the genius of Bjork. 02 dec Hitomi Kinen Hall I looked at her concert for the first time on that day. I was surprised at matomos's performance like magic. GREAT! Frosti like a music box.And overture. All Is Full Of Love - She wore the swan dress. Generous Palmstroke - Zeena's harp performance is very splendid. Unison is my favorite song.I shed some tears.Very comfortable sound! You've Been Flirting Again ~ Isobel - She came out in a red dress. Pagan Poetry - I have been charmed by her, the harp, and the chorus. All audiences got excited with HyperBallad.Explosion of feeling continued to the last. Our hands gave me big energy and made fortunate rain fall. All was very very very wonderful like a continuous short deep dream. I can't express all with words. She said Arigato!(Thank you) I wanna say,too.....Arigato! Bjork. I will never forget concert. I told Bjork the lie. Bjork said "can you speak english?" All audience said "yes!" but I can't speak English. :) Hamhan Dear Gigography, I had a FABULOUS moment except for the reaction of audience... ;-( We were oh so quiet! I'm curious what SHE thought about it!?!? It's funny if SHE thought that's also kind of Japanese culture, is it? Thanks! And we're always crazy about you, Bjork! CAMxxx She came from silence. She made deep sea and Chomolungma instantly. She was commander. She was undoubtedly sound. Bjork, Matmos, Choir, SimonLee, TPO and all great people,,, "arigato" for coming to the far-east-Japan and giving the splendid show. asas I was one of the ones that couldn't get in. It was a bummer that I couldn't see Bjork, but I listened to her through the lobby speakers! Chills went up my spine the second I heard Bjork's voice. How does she do that! The orchestra filled the Hall with a spiritual atmosphere as Bjork's angelic voice softly yet strongly covered the music. I tried to imagine what she was doing when the audience screamed or applauded, but whatever she did, it was "Bjork". The high point was Hyper-ballad(I guessed). I felt the temperature rise a couple of degrees. My favorite was Joga. The sound of strings and Bjork's voice was beautifully collaborated. Bjork said "arigatou"(thank you) a couple of times, and introduced everyone before the last song. I wish I could of seen her, but I was happy enough to hear her and I didn't want it to end! Let me tell ya, I would never sit in the freezing cold for anyone! Emi HELLO! I wrote a revire of gig on 2nd Dec in Japan! Sorry about messy English ;) **************************** I knew that so many people were looking for concert tickets on the net. In fact there were so many people standing outside with boards saying "please sell me a ticket"! I felt so sorry for them, some of them had big bags beside them. Because the concert was held only in Tokyo, i guess so many people came to see bjork from all over Japan. Bjork's songs are all really good in CD. But it was really touching to hear her voice and see her singing! The audiences were sitting quietly during first half of the concert. But i could tell that everyone was focusing on her singing, most of people was sitting but leaning forward, trying to hear her voice well. The second half of the concert was quite different. People started to sing and get exited. Especially when the intro of "Hyper Ballad" was played. At the end of the concert, everyone was standing up and clapping hands, everyone seemed so happy. Bjork responced to us too. The way she acts on the stage was so cute! Also, it was surprising for me that it seem, to me, that more than half of the audiences were boys. No wonder so many people were looking for tickets.....if Bjork comes to Japan next time I will definatelly go again!! Thanks for the exellent concert bjork! Arigato bjork* *************************** Kyoko Shibasaki kirapluskyoko@hotmail.com Björk! i really wanted to see you but i couldn't get the ticket. the tickets were instantly sold out as soon as they were put on sale. the first venue "Hitomi Kinen Kodo" is situated in my neighbourhood. i couldn't stay still at home when my most adoring & loving artist's concert is going on. so i prowled about the concert hall hopelessly wishing if i could catch a glimpse of you. suddenly i came up with what appeared to be a good idea that i thought i might be able to get your ticket at yahoo japan's online auction. i made a bid for your ticket on dec. 7 at "tokyo kokusai forum." i bid 55,500 yen and was winning till just before the lose of the auction. but someone placed a bid of 61,000 yen right before the ending. sorry i couldn't afford, or maybe im just mean. at the end of the day i think my love for you wasn't real. it wasn't more than 55,500 yen. i hated myself. felt i was a hypocrite. but i don't have a job at the moment. i've got my own living. i hate working; love sleeping. i need to be a little realistic 'cause always dreaming. anyway these are just excuses. i don't know why im writing this. but i feel im driven to write it by something uncanny something transcendental something indescribable... synchronicity i guess. don't know why but getting high with just writing my message to you. don't know if you read it. in common-sense terms, probably you won't. but i feel you will, you will happen to read it. you are like superb magic mushrooms. i prefer to take it on my own. i'd believe that is why i missed it. you are still in japan aren't you? i woke up. ást! Hiroshi The day was really special day in my life. I knew the show was fantastic, but it exceeded my imagination. I took a seat which is near PA at the center of the 1st floor. I met Nobuyoshi Araki which is a famous photographer. Bjork is his fan and Mr.Araki has taken the jacket of Bjork's cd several years before. Oops!! I must talk about the performance. Part1: Bjork appeared with putting on a white dress. The audience drank breath and was gazing at Bjork. Everyone was seeing quietly just like classic concert. Of course, when Bjork finished singing, the hall was filled with the clapping and the cheer. Part2: Bjork was putting on a red dress.(Marvelous!!!!!) It extremely got into and everyone was excited. The audience gradually began to stand up. I also stood up and danced. The hall was filled by the heat. Bjork seemed pleasant, sang, and she was dashing and jumped on the narrow stage. Especially "HyperBallad"was sooooooooo good. Encore: I have wished to play "Joga" but it wasn't played on that night. However, instead of "Joga", Bjork played brand new song "Our Hands". The audience have sung and clapped by imitating the choir. Bjork said ARIGATOU(thank you) and left. The show closed a curtain. I think Bjork have given us pleasure of living, and has made the show in full of love. Dear Bjork., Thank you. T.e.Kondo from Japan I have to write the review in English. Because when Bjork said "Do you speak English?", I replied "Yes!!!".(w) This is the first time of watching her performance. So, I was so nervous that wide awake half the night the day before. Until I took my seat, my heart was beating. First, Matmos's act started. Their performance was very experimental and interesting to me. Bjork's act began with big applause. Her voice was very powerful and made me feel pleasant!!! After the latter half of Part2 I could not help standing, because I was deeply moved!!! especially, when the most favorite song "Bachelorette"started, tears came into my eyes. After the gig, I felt refreshed and very happy!!! and my excitement went on the midnight. I'm looking forward to the next gigs in Japan. By that time, I have to brush up my English skill.(w) Thank you, Bjork!!! Marcy Kanazawa city , Japan Hi . that night happening , it is remembered just like an inside of the dream. I feel that it spent really wonderful time with happiness !! Because it was very small , a distance with bjork was thought the scale of the meeting place near here. The voice raised from her little body shook the heart of us audience, and then the whole of the hall felt like shaking ,too. The atmosphere which couldn't be expressed well in the word floated there. It is how beautiful , and how powerful , and how gentleness. Thank you bjork for the really wonderful night . Then , a wish from me comes to meet us next year surely ! I love you , bjork !!!! yuko I was looking forward to meeting Bjork. I was satisfied with watching her perfect performance! "Pagan Poetry" was brilliant. The harmony with choir from Greenland was very lovely. All the audiences stood shouting and clapping their hands excitedly when she began to sing "HyperBallad". The atmosphere lasted to the end of the concert. Her strong voice is still lingering in my ears. Thank you, Bjork. Please come again to Japan! Tamaki Saitama city, Japan I was lucky enough to 'win' tickets (still had to pay...) to see Bjork perform in Tokyo. I can't even begin to describe how amazing she was... The show started with Matmos - an interesting set, playing birdcages and balloons and some other odd stuff. After a little break, the orchestra came out and the lights went down. We could see a little silhouette walk across the stage and sit down... my heart was nearly in my mouth at this point, I was so full of nervous excitement. Then came the beautiful tones of Frosti, slightly different from the album version but still magical... then Overture. Next were the unmistakeable beats of All is Full of Love and we got our first glimpse of Bjork! The sound of her voice felt like electric currents racing through my body... she just seems impossibly perfect. Her soaring voice seems to have become even more powerful and strong since I last saw her on the Post tour and she is one of the VERY few artists whose voice is better live than on record (the only other one I reckon is PJ Harvey)... she makes it look easy... The first half was quite subdued in terms of the setlist, but was by no means substandard. It was lush to see her play songs like Harm of Will and Generous Palmstroke - I never thought she'd play stuff like that live but that made it all the more amazing... I must admit I shed a few tears at the sheer beauty of it all. She came back for part two (wearing that intriguing 'instrument' dress) to play my favourite Bjork song ever (YBFA and Isobel) and finished with the dramatic In Our Hands. I'm still dazed when I think about the gig... and its been almost a week. I really hope some kind of live DVD from the tour is released... it was too stunning to remain kept from the thousands of fans who didn't get a chance to see her plus I wanna see her dancing again - had me in stiches... She's bloody nuts - and I love her for it!!!!!!!!!! Bob B /old reviews - 3118 |
