what an amzing evening, it was probably the most exciting bjork concert i have ever been to in my life..........

the theatrical aspect of the show just made all the raw emotion of songs like "pagan poetry" even more tangible the opening of the red curtains at the beginning with bjork sat in a delicate snowfall playing her music box brought an audible gasp of delight from the audience who for a moment were just content to watch bjork's movements whilst playing this instrument.....

the choir were an absolute delight their innocence seemed to shine through and touch everyone with smiles as they held hands with each other and danced beautifully complimenting bjork's idiosyncratic graceful twitching...

i'd say Matmos were an anti-climax much over-hyped rubbish, they were clearly very clever but were far too self indulgent for my liking- rubbing balloons just doesnt do it for me!!!

the sound was pure and clear giving the ice cold feeling we were all in a big cave with icicles and polar bears adding(perhaps unintentionally)to the already present winter theme.
bjork's voice was the strongest i have ever heard it in my life and 99.9% of the time she effoertlessly pulled off her experimentation (vocal wise) on "Vespertine" i.e. the whispering of "cocoon" and the glacial euphoria of "aurora"

the point of delight for me was definitely hearing the new song "our hands" it was amazing breakbeats combined with the usual delicate melody and had bjork flinging herself round madly loving the energy and excitement of sharing this new song with us all.... began on a high point and likewise ended exactly the same.... just a shame my camera didnt have a flash on it!!!!!!(doh!)

Thanks Bjork for some much needed money at Christmas!
On the way to the gig, my friend and I were discussing "Frosti"......
He saw a ballerina ascending from a delicate music box, but I envisaged snow falling from the ceiling....need I say more??????
Sensational!!!!

Wasn't she just wonderful, she is such an enigma, so powerful and and full of fire.
I thoroughly enjoyed Sunday night's performance, and the venue was perfect.
Well worth the money, I would have paid more.
Karen.

Dear all,

I guess the acid test for true love of Bjork is the impossibility of attaining satisfaction. Of course the voice was divine, the dancing a treat, the musicians startling and the venue idyllic but I guess that until it's just me and Bjork in her kitchen, I chopping up the onions and her sprinkling the cumin seeds, then I'll never be satisfied.

Vespertine was always going to be a difficult one to master in concert. It's extreme intimacy appears to defy any attempt to broadcast it to the masses, so actually the Royal Opera House was a huge (relative) success as the confiding, confessional nature was preserved. Well almost, a little oxygen did seep in to upset that preservation process. An Echo, A Stain is still best appreciated nocturnally, half conscious, the stereo barely audible. It's then that the music is on your side, your friend and your armour, an experience that is unattainable when the guy next to you is wildly shaking his head in shear ecstasy or rejection (I couldn't quite discern).

Though the intimate elements are more elusive because they are seen aswell as heard, earlier work is better captured precisely for the same reasons. Incredibly, Possibly Maybe is sung as if she has been sucking her tongue since only yesterday, even now, after her precious humans have appeared out of and disappeared into stardust innumerable times since it's creation. So scarily sensitive is she that her experiences, whether saved last night or whilst picking out worms at fish factory, must be crystal clear.

Bjorks' supernatural powers salvaged the performance from the life threatening effects of the Inuit singers. A symbol of her characteristic bravery and adventure, I am saddened by their corpse-like nature. The most lush moments on Vespertine are created by magical vespers, a small yet essential chunk of the prayer of Vespertine is lost along with the original choir. Yet, the definition of an experiment is uncertainty of result, so it's a forgivable sin.

The fascinating thing about Bjork is that it is impossible for her voice to lie. Her music is the her life's narrative. This invites speculation surrounding the new song Our Hands. It appears to be a statement of confidence and belief in her love, one wonders why it is necessary at all. If Vespertine was born through falling in love, imagine if she was to fall out of love.

Never stop exploring.

I can't quite put into words how Sunday's concert at the Royal Opera House made me feel. I hadn't been to a concert since I was 17 (Cyndi Lauper in 1995) and this was a difficult concert to arrange tickets for, but managed it. I went with my brother and felt slightly embarassed as I cried tears of Joy when the orchestra began to play All Is Full Of Love. In such an amazing setting as well, I felt overwhelmed by the whole thing. My love of Bjork has always been strong and now i have even greater appreciation.
Thanks Darling, for giving me the best Christmas present I can remember...
just like to add that my brother tapped me on the shoulder during the concert, and told me that the world would be a poorer place if Bjork were not in it. I know that he's right.

Unison, yeah..

John, London SE17

I thoroughly enjoyed Sunday's performance. Bjork gave it her all and the
orchestra was absolutely fabulous. The performance of Play Dead will
definitely go down as one of the greatest ever. Amazing acoustics and what
a crazy dress in the second half!

Hello!!!!!
It was obvious from the moment Bjork appeard on stage, with snow falling all
around her to Frosti, that the concert we were about to recieve was somthing
very special.

This being my first time seeing Bjork live I didnt know quite what to
expect, but it is certainly true that her voice is better live than on her
recorded albums - every song was so full of emotion that cant be captured in
a studio.

I wont go through every song one by one, but some deserve a special mention
"Generous Palmstroke" was outstanding, just Bjork and Harp unlike the
'single' b-side version, "An Echo, A Stain" was peformed in a much darker
and raw way, very differnt to the album version, "Possibly Maybe" and
"Isobel" were probably my highlights of the evening as Matmos provided
amazing beats different to any versions Ive heard previously and Bjork
shimmered.

The Encore's were exactly what the audience wanted - A moving "Joga" with
just Strings and Bjork, "Play Dead" which visably perked everyone up around
me, and "Our Hands" which blew everyone away.

An Amazing evening that I dont think Ill ever be able to match as the venue
suited so perfectly the Vespertine songs, just a shame that the ROH staff
were so overbearing, even telling people not to stand up -while they were
sitting!!!

And just some other info - Batabid (from the Pagan Poetry single) was played
in the interval between Matmos' amazing set and Bjork's first set, and the
whole show was recorded for a showing on Television or video release!?!?!

Thank you Bjork for an unforgetable evening!!!!!
Nick S

Such a beautiful evening and something that will go down in history. As soon as the curtains went back bjorks presence had us all mesmerised-i've never experienced anything like this before and i will never forget it. The sound was incredible,so crisp and clear and you could tell that a lot of time and thought had gone in to put this show together.Bjork came across with so much conviction hitting hard every last note So many special moments, unison, undo, bacholette, joga, play dead to name just a handful. Thankyou bjork for a night in heaven. Andy

I was one of the lucky one's who had the privilege of seeing Bjork at the Royal Opera House on Sunday night. Talk about a magical night !. I've seen Miss B twice now and on both occasions have left the venue's with the feeling that I have just experienced something very very special. I'm hoping that as there were so many TV camera's there that the show was recorded for a future DVD ??

One last thing, Boyakasha to ya Adam for getting me the ticket, nice 1
Gary

Yet another stunning evening, it was a pleasure to hear "live" the creative string arrangements, praise must be afforded for the Orchestra, they gave us what is heard in the recording studio and what cant truly be transfered to the CDs we buy.

Bjork wanted to give us the full experience and succeeded beyond expectations.

Was this better than Union Chapel?? perhaps this debate could rumble on but these were two different types of concerts and only each persons individual preference is the right assumption. From my point of view, Union Chapel will always be the most moving experience and intimate concert i have ever had the pleasure to experience in the many many times i have seen Bjork.

This evenings concert was extremely powerful and emotive, i felt Bjork wanted us to experience something quite different and she portrayed Vespertine "live" in the mood it was written and recorded.

Other attendees, P J Harvey, Howard Jones (how old are you?? if you remember him), singer from Bluetones,

On the downside, the Security were relentless in grabbing those trying to take photos, this concert cost me well over £500 and i couldnt even get a photo as a momento!! sad eh! so, wonder whose decision this was, if anyone did beat the jobsworths/SAS please let me know, i would be prepared to buy a couple of prints and be most grateful.
Cheers all

Hi

I was very lucky to see Björk in concert on Sunday night. I'm having great difficulty finding words that can describe how brilliant the whole evening was. Björk was on top form, expressing herself in every way. Matmos, Zeena Parkins, the choir and orchestra all provided the support that made the concert one of the best I have ever experianced in my life. Special moments for me were Play Dead, Hyperballad, Unison, Our Hands and Human Behaviour. Lastly I would just like to thank björk for sharing this very special evening with us and to say that you will always be welcome with open arms in London

John Dalgarno

Brilliant! Brilliant! Brilliant! there I've said it.

Last night was definitely a religous experience, more than worth the
trip.Thank you Björk for bringing so much beauty to the world, you inspire
me.

a beautiful, magical evening. every last detail was perfect:
the venue, the crystal clear sound, the orchestra, choir and
zeena. total respect to matmos for a mesmerising opening
set.

bjork was outstanding in every way. her creative direction
behind it all (and those dresses!), skill as a performer,
the passion and sincerity in the interpretation of her
songs, and the voice. all done with such humility and
dedication.

all is full of love indeed

Jon

A huge thank you to Bjork and all the musicians for one of the the most
icily engaging and fabulously rich performances I've seen in years. A top
venue helped and the 'engine room' of Matmos added a beautifully clean, icy
edge to proceedings.

Isobel and hyper-ballad worked particularly well - but didn't it all ...

Great

John Kemp.

Hi There,
I Saw Bjork play at the Royal Opera House in London ’s Covent Garden tonight. It was a fabulous show and I thought you might appreciate a .jpg of the setlist and ticket. Attendees spotted: Bono (U2), Alexander McQueen. The venue was amazing and I’ll have some pictures in 2 days which I’ll be sure to scan and send.

Best regards,
Michael Galvin.

Dear Gigography...

Well what a night, and what a venue! Was great to see Bjork at her best as
usual! She truly has a presence no other performer holds... For those who
were there last night, we really are the lucky ones! I will always look
forward to
