I can not fully express the emotions that came out of me before, during, and after the 23rd. i am in love with the music that flows out of the mind of that beautiful woman named Bjork. Thank you thank you thank you for your music. I just can not say enough. I sing and feel every word that is sung. The stage was out of this world and the fireworks... I was amazed at the conection. I can not wait until the next time i can see her. It was just beautiful.

I live in elizabeth New jersey, and when I found out on june that she was gonna come to the USA on agust i felt GREAT. Bjork is favorite singer and seeing her live was absolutly amazing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it was one of my dreams and it became true<<<<>>> I bought the tickets on july. At first I was gonna buy me a general admision ticket but then the friend I was going with was a little short so we decided to buy the ones in the box field. Of course i couldn't see her close or dance a lot, but i did not care and i still enjoyed the greatest show i had ever been to.
When the concert was almost ending I ran out of my seat and jumped to the general admision field so that I could see her close I danced " Human behavior" and i got to see her colse.
I am very satisfied by the concert , i sang every song and i danced while i was seating down, I even bougth a shirt. Even though It was a long trip to Brookyn I would still do it a million times and if I would've had the money i would've been to her other shows.
Thank you bjork,,, your music is unique and gorgeous !!!!!! i love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!U

First Bjork concert ever all I have to say is WOW! Absolutely amazing the fact that it was outdoors and that there was room to dance. And of course Bjork herself I have never been to a better concert and I have been to many, her voice, her band and the visuals just made the event surreal. Thank you Bjork your music has opened many doors for me. Without music the world would be a very sad place.

when I heard that Bjork would visit Mexico I was very happy because finally I would be able to see my best singer and going to one of her concerts has been my dream. Then I knew that she would not come so I ask a friend of mine who lives in Orlando if she would come with me to NY to see her, and also spent some time there. she said yes and we did it. We walk and walk since we arrived in NY at friday, on saturday we were very tired and our feets hurt so much, but when the concert started we put away our pain and we started dancing. It was fantastic!!!
If I could have the chance and of course the money to travel and see her again, I would not hesitate!!!!

But it would be great if she comes to my country.

I went to the 2nd NY concert Coney Island. After reading all the writings above, there aint much more to say. Everyone's words truly transformed me back to that night. And while I sit here listening to Joga and remembering the first introduction of the fire shooting up on queue, and that whipping wind - ah the wind. It was as if the powerful violins in Joga massaged mother nature - ah the fire, the wind - beautiful music, blue sky, all that combined was like some sort of earthly out-of-body experience - like it's so perfect you dont even feel that you must really be standing there in human form. Now - having said that, what would make it all complete at this moment, sitting here in reality of my apartment is the repetition of her sweet little "thenkew" after the crowds roar when she finished each song. I want to install that on my computer as an alert sound.

Without questioning, the best musical experience of my life. I saw Bjork at Radio City back in October of 2001 for her Vestpertine tour. Only three short weeks after the September 11 tragedies. She was incredible, she new what to do and she did it. She understood the mood and the tempo and she performed it. She felt the sadness and emotion and she sang it to all of us and helped us to put it into the air and look at it and recognize it for it's beauty and sheer love and compassion.
At that show, I was not myself. I was in love with the experience, but sadly, my heart had lost its connection with my mind and my spirit. There was no flow, no symbiosis, I was truly dying on the inside. I was months away from becoming the warrior I was growing into, and battling the elements of the pain of my past and of the lingering present that never ceased to fail.
Today I have healed. Not in complete, but in essence, I am whole again, and my heart and mind and spirit, have all reunited to represent my soul. For me, pain is always there, it dwells, but when there is an instance that magnifies individual pain through the whole world over, such as the terrorist attacks on America, it all surfaces for everyone to see, it is shared and passed on and it finds friends inside the newly surfaced pain of all of the rest of the human race. Make sense to anyone? It does to me.
I was truly here this time. I made a promise to myself on my way to Little Miss Brooklyn, that I would be here. That I would feel and see, that my senses would be enacted and that they would deliver to my soul all of the messages and stimuli that Bjork was passing on to all of those fortunate enough to see her. And I was. It worked. I heard her. I felt her. I saw her. Her music truly is a part of me, and as silly and cliche as that sounds, it is the utter truth, and I revel in it. Since that day back in 2001, Bjork has inhabitied a cavity of her own in my heart, and today that cavity's fortress has only become stronger and more mystical and warm, more welcoming and lovely and generous and compassionate. It is one of the best parts of me, I believe. The relationship that I share with her music and its rawness, its earthliness, its pure beauty.
I got to be front and center against the guardrail for this show, my friend Shervin and I were the first to step onto the field. I ran up to the front and planted my feet in place. She was twelve feet in front of me all evening, and I have fallen completely in love all over again. Yet this time, it isn't just a part of me that is in love. It has inhabited everything inside of me, it swirls about within my heart and mind and spirit, and it heals my soul.
ZOE, I really liked your review! It was great seeing you there, front and center, as well as everyone else who was right there with us. Let me see if I can name everyone: Liana, Logan, Michelle, Mya, Richie, Ron, Armando, Vanessa, Noelani, the cute little girl that Shervin insisted looked like a beautiful creature from the forest, Elizabeth, and the two we met on the train, Arthur, and Mary the Articially Intelligent Robot. It was wonderful having this experience with all of these strangers that were so warm and lovely and willing to become an immediate friend. Oh, and Mishko! I looked for you for like three hours! I couldn't find you anywhere. You were so awesome. Well, that's all.

The 8-23-03 show at Cyclone was one not to be forgotten. Trekking out to Coney Island with a car that was on it's last ride was one of my main concerns...though I would have ditched the auto and walked to the stadium.

I arrived quite early and waited on line where I met some very nice people with whom I was with until the end of the night (Chervin, Ben, Zoe, Liana, and Logan), all making the time that much more enjoyable ; I think it's wonderful that Bjork can bring complete strangers together in such a short time.

Bonnie 'Prince' Billy came on and he was very interesting. It seemed as if the crowd wasn't too into him, but I went home and downloaded some tracks...I now am going to purchase his CDs. w3rd to The Prince.

Sigur Ros was very dramatic as expected, but very good. Though it seemed as if they would never end and I would not see Bjork for HOURS longer.

Bjork came on around 9:30 with Hunter and I was oh-so pleased, seeing her dance and wiggle her arms to the drum rolls. The entire set blew me away and I hope she comes around again. Just wow. Terrible that there is no other way, more intelligent way to describe the experience, but that fits the mood pretty well.

Keep on. <333 don

great concert but there was this strange guy next to me i think he was foreign maybe from Holland or something that kept yelling "Jay" at the end of some of her songs. how rude! and i thought her dress was a bit crooked on one shoulder-almost like her shoulders couldn't hold it up. and the left speaker on the far side seemed to crackle a bit and the fireworks took away from the night sky a bit i think.

but other than that it was an amazing night-

Going to a bjork concert is like my own personal pilgrimage to see someone that inspires me in day to day life. Listening to bjork interpret her music in a live environment was like an aural orgasm! For those of you who are perverts, aural has to do with the auditory system (your ears for you dumb shizzles). My wife and I made the 8 hour car ride to NYC to see our favorite musician perform. Literally that's all t hat happened, we listened. My wife and I are both 5 feet 5 inches, and everyone else seemed taller. Unlike the people who were able to see, we saw nothing due to the type of venue, and all of the tall people whose heads were in the way of all the stage. But we still had a great time with all of the music and all of the fans. When selecting a veneu Next time bjork, please think of how the shorter people who love you are affected...much love anthony and barbara

"Thank you" to the girl from Clevland that sold me her extra ticket for $54 at 5pm that night
on Saturday, which was a beautiful day- i was about to call someone to make plans
i noticed on my calendar that i had written "bjork@cyclone stadium" i looked on craigslist for tickets and noticed that Sigur Ros was playing.
i freaked!, i had no idea they were on the bill. for the next two hours i had a one track mind to get to coney island , and at worse i would have to sit outside stadium. made trek from queens and went to the ticket window-while hearing Sig do their sound check. while in line to see if there were any returns or tickets, a girl offered to sell me an extra ticket, and 3 minutes later it was mine. walked around pier and bumped into my friend jim at batting cage, who i had worked with the night before. he said "isn't it strange in a city this big, to run into someone 12 hours later?" we went to fishing pier checked out dudes catching fish and watched two big cruise ships sail out to see- and it was the nicest day of the summer-not a normal day. then checked out the amusement park "shoot the freak" etc. i drank a vodka cranberry that i had made in a vitamin h2o bottle and started to craft buzz for the evening. at 7:09 i went in through the entrance from the boardwalk, copped a beer and headed to the floor. when i got down there BPB was on and i was about 60 feet from the stage i had that feeling that it was going to be one of those concert experiences.
the sun started to drop and SR/Amina came on at 8pm - the hour they played seemed like 25 minutes-it was a reality shift -can't describe it -had to be there-but i closed my eyes twice-felt my head spin and opened them before i fell backwards on my ass. they played new material, "Agaetis byrjun" and "Olsen, olsen".
As 9:30 approached everyone was moving towards the stage. it was my first time seeing her and now know why she is a legend. killer show, i only knew of a few songs- and really went to see Sig but left feeling cleansed and awed by the performance. The sound was excellent. Great audience. it went fast for 90 minutes and no one there wanted it to end. The BEST show i have seen in 5 years, on top of the synchronicity of being there. I recommend seeing Mogwai in NYC the first week of September to anyone that likes Sigur Ros.

i have been waiting and thinking about this day for so long, i went to see the second concert in brooklyn and i am still speechless about the entire experience, there is nothing that i can say except, as always, the moment that i hear bjork's voice wash over me all is right with the world and all is right with my soul. her spirit and her talent have saved me from myself.

what can be said that hasn't been said.. the saga continues.. there's something so very wonderful and yet so absolutely lonely about standing infront of this women.. from the dc ballroom's intimacy to coney islands explosion I found myself going from not being able to look her in the eyes to wanting scream I'm still here!

sigur ross opened and I found some of the same simularities between them and bj◘rk.. from the abstract clicks, rumbles and whines to the beat pounding into your soul.. a meld between them all escapes classification and is able to come together and make sense..

i spent the 22nd on a train for the day and met with an old friend from undernet.. we caught up and took more trains to coney island.. in the seats I strained to see her face and decided to simply close my eyes and listen.. yes the explosions above, the fire below caught my eye and the lights threw colours around her.. but I listened and listened.. bj◘rk can create a fusion between the outter world and the inner world and if you try hard enough it can be completely rewarding to let yourself be entertained by those thoughts..

on the 23rd I found myself back on coney island.. I spend the day walking around and wonder why I was in NY just to see her.. I could have gone to the statue of liberty, time square or anywhere in the city.. but I found myself back on coney island and buying a floor ticket..

i twisted myself deeper and deeper into the crowd and stood for hours.. it seemed like a cool wind came in just as she took the stage.. the speakers suspended from the framed stage swung above, as did the lights and everything else up there.. her hair flowed as she sang much like her latest videos.. for some reason at 6'0" I could only catch glimpses of her.. and I felt sorry for all the people who stood lower than me.. my neck was strained and again I decide to close my eyes.. and enjoy.. yes.. the videos playing behind her caught my eye as did the fire and stars..

the show was a surprise for me.. after selma's songs and vespertine I was wondering how I would feel inside me.. but with an explosive finish my body took over and I bounced beyond control as I did in dc..

couldn't help but romanticise this event..

shouts out to old and new!

sigur still looking on #iceland for you
much music for all request hour!
ione thanks for the time we spend once again..
#bjork on undernet - sorry I missed you folks

Hi
Aug 23rd was the first time I saw Bjork in concert. Other than my trip to Costa Rica, this was the best experience in my whole life. I am a huge Bjork and Sigur Ros fan and loved the concert. When the fireworks went off while Bjork was singing Joga I knew that this was the best concert I have ever been to. I love how she stood at the mic and she gave a beautiful feel to everything. Sigur Ros was also very very good. When they played my favorite song of theirs (Vidrar vel til loftarasa) I was thinking this is so amazing. I was staying with a friend who lives in Brooklyn and it was my first time visiting the city in a social way, other then just a train though. I had an amazing time later that night and Bjork topped it all off. Thank you Bjork for one of the best weekends of my life.

i've been waiting for this since high school! it seemed an impossibility and i'm still in awe that i actually had the opportunity to see bjork live. unfortunately i am short so i couldn't stand as close as i would have liked. but in the back of the crowd i made new friends, danced, sang, and awed at the wonderfulness of it all. now i can't wait to do it all over again.

hey, my name is roman, i went to both shows in brooklyn. simply amazing, i was just speechless, this has been the second show (1st- silverchair, 2 nights in NYC) in my life that once it ended, i was on the verge of tears, such a beautiful thing should never have to end. first show, i was there with 14 other people, we had 16 tickets, and one was not filled, i tried selling it, no one would buy, as a matter of fact, people were giving their tickets away for that show. so i thought, sunday, i should go, and try to get a ticket. i go, sunday, no tickets, so i stood on the right side of the venue leaning on a fence looking at the show, i had binoculars so it was nice. but i still wanted in, i tried to get the guard to let me in in place of the many people that left *surprising as that is; i asked a couple why they left, they said they were tired, makes no sense* that did not work, so, i looked again for another ticket, none, then, i asked a couple for a ticket stub, got it, and convinced a guard i had left to turn off my headlights, they let me in, nice nice nice, anyway, Bjork, look at it this way, i had an extra ticket friday, so i in a way used it saturday :) anyway, the shows were both stunning and over powering, and sigur ros was just amazing as well, i have heard of them before, but never heard their music, what better way to hear them then at a live show, that man's voice is gorgeous. so, there you have it, thank you bjork for enhancing the lives of my ears... a million pages of thankyou's could not thank you enough, forever in my mind and memory and soul, i hope to see you live again,
here are some pics of my tickets, the first one being one ticket that got me in, another that was left, and the last one is the stub from the 2nd night...
and, by the way, if the couple that gave me the stub happens to read this, thank you so much (it was 10 oclock when you left, i was the kid with a backback and woven hat that asked you why you were leaving and for extra tickets and then the stub...) also, if you were that jersey girl that sat next to me askin for a cig and to use my binoculars, don't hesitate to bother me... snapple_g0d@yahoo.com

My version of a experience I carry with a tender ecstasy:

Traveled from SF to be here. Saw her live for my first time ever in SF, where she had me in tears by the second song. After this it takes a turn for the transcendental/mystical... by the 4th song I have completely dissolved into the night. Before I can figure out what's happening to me, I feel her singing from inside my heart and the music has become the blood running through my veins. Everyone dancing inside of me. Overwhelming - I am electric. It feels absurd to even try to put that experience into words.

Caught LA as well. In the presale nosebleeds, but cool to have a different perspective - saw more bjork energy than bjork the person from that far back. Magically, these songs that I know in and out fall on my ears as though for the first time. Exquisite bliss!

I try to return to my life as it was, but it is not enough quite yet. I find myself purchasing tickets to NYC and everything just falls into place. An increase on my credit card less than 2 weeks before, work shifts that get covered before I even have to ask, a stranger sells me her concert tix via ebay and then offers to pick me up from LGA and take me to the show, even though she won't be seeing it herself! What is the magical undercurrent that sets this all in place for me?

Friday now, 22 August 2003. I arrive and slip into the crowd, not too far back. Light breeze, pink clouds, Sigur Ros begins and the moment revels in its perfection. I could float like this forever (or for the next hour as the case may be). The anticipation is frantic and then... "If travel is searching"... It seeps into my pores filling my entire being. It moves me with it, as it moves, my body has never danced like this before. The crowd seethes around me. Orgasmic, electric, energetic bliss.

Saturday, 23 August 2003. How warm in my heart to find that the people in line with me actually get why her music is so intoxicating! Enjoyed the day as it sauntered by outside the gates. Very fun private stadium tour. Then... front row, center! I am mesmerized beyond words. I give myself up to the experince. It flows through me like stardust.

I have been given a gift: I am touched to the core of my being and it still resonates. The stars are tiny, but accurately and softly go about their work with laughter: to wake up the essence of my soul (This is an alarm call!). 4 nights that stand alone and sparkle with incandescent landscapes that cut through to the very center of my soul. I am blessed to watch as their creator weaves them into being (a humble tsank you to you).

Special thanks to "Uncle Mike" for his generosity of heart.

Stardust on liana + logan, ejbelair + friend, and the rest of the early morning crowd. How sweet that bjork brought us all together for a day! I loved sharing this experience with you.

My heart is full. My spirit is open. I am, in deep awe, thankful.

hey, i just got back to miami from the show. 10 years in the making. it was totally worth the 2700 mile drive to see bjork for my first time. i'll definately follow her somewhere again. she truly has control over nature; the way mars shined above her head the whole time and the shooting star during i've seen it all and when the cold wind started blowing as aurora started and the wonderous chills only she could offer. im broke now but i'll be ready for the next one. maybe one day she'll come visit down here (yea right, i wish)

Hey there --

First of all how wonderful to see this community of fans who all feel like I do: Bjork is amazing!

Just a few quick thoughts on Saturday night's show at Cyclone Field.

I've seen her also at Hammerstein and also at Radio City. This was easily the best show of the three. Radio City is too staid a venue -- more geared towards a recital than a concert. Hammerstein was terrific but this show was just really special. At first I was troubled a bit (proprietary you might say) over seeing so many people in the audience. It was a fairly large gig and I had heard rumors about the pyro, which I confess I had trouble imagining. Aerosmith gets pyro, sure, but Bjork? Needless to say I was thrilled with how well it worked. Also I am pleased to say the crowd (and this is probably to be expected) was completely cool and not a problem.

The best thing about the show, in my opinion, was the pacing of the music. She started off with her more intimate numbers, getting progressively more and more intimate, before escalating in the other direction and gradually letting more and more of her thumping numbers out until she really started getting into it. Like most of you, I'm sure, I love both sides of Bjork musical persona -- the more intimate and the more danceable -- and it was nice to see how the "flow" of the show moved so well from the quiet to the explosive.

The fireworks and jets of flame were used to great effect (nice that she didn't wait to use the offshore fireworks at the end of the show but poignantly during Joga fairly early).

Mostly the thing that came across to me is that this show seemed much more "her show." She seemed relaxed and comfortable, carefully tracing a line through beautiful number after beautiful number, with a (literally) explosive crescendo.

A note on the venue: it was perfect to spend the day at Astroland amusement park riding the Cyclone, playing carnival games, going on the Wonder Wheel, riding in bumper cars -- all those things capped off by a fantastic show.

I have two criticisms of the show (at the risk of sacrilege): I am not too crazy about Sigur Ros -- they played a bit long and too much of their stuff was too alike for me. (Bonnie Prince Billy was terrific). The other thing is that while I am taller than most, my average height companion is not, and she couldn't see a thing, really, save when I hefted her up from time to time. One wonders if Bjork's diminutive size might require a slightly higher stage or something (sorry)!

Finally I want to echo what so many others have said here: thank you Bjork for your amazing gift. You're truly remarkable. Once I read that when you were done being a pop star you might start a school of music for children. If you ever do, I know I'd love to send my future kids there.

All in all, a fantastic day and an incredible show. Come back soon!

-- Jesse

My NY Experince,
Well i got to NY on Wednesday night i did not really do much at all.The next day i went to Manhaton and hung out with Manny (Teknoboy1).We chilled out all that day and night till it was around 12 pm.At 12 pm we headed out to the show.We took the subway and a shuttle bus threw some rough places but it was fun.We got to the place around 1 or 2,We were going to bunk out upfront but we ran in to a security guard (Artiy) of Keyspan Park.He asked us where we was from and some other stuff. He told us it was a horible place to bunk out at early morning hours so he let us stay in this little room that leads in to the inner part of Keyspan Park.We start to try to get some sleep and then the security guard (Artiy) comes back and tells us he wants to show us something specail. So me and Manny get up and he opens this door thats in the back of the VIP room where we were sleeping in.He takes us down this hall and we get to a door, And on this door it says "BJORK".We start to freak out then Artiy opens the door and lets us in.We get in and we see flip!!.We got to sit on bjorks chairs and sofa and saw this awwesome paintings that i think she did.We also got to use her bathroom. Then later on he takes us in Sigur Ros dressing room and matmod, zenna shared a room and the icelandic string orect shared a room.So we got to see all that. Then around 5:00am we leave to get outside to get back in line.We are the first ones there. Around 7 or 8 in the morning a guy comes "Matt" super cool and nice, We had a great talk with him. Then a little later Maria and Whitney came "Loviedmurge and Jacks Lamet".We talked to them for awhile evevn played cards!.Then later on we started to hear Scatterheart!, We all run to the side all excited then we notice they are just playing it on the speakers. We all walk back sorda laughing at our selfs. So anyways time goes by and we are in line and then To Enjoy comes and her boy friend (forgot your name sorry) and worldisnotenough comes along. We are all talking and whatever.A little later im sitting down faceing a wall kinda and i notice everyone open there mouths and sorda get excited!. I look behind me and see Sigur Ros comming toward me! I totaly freak out and like take pictures and whatever it was great to see them so close and in person!!.A little later we start to hear them play some songs in rehersale it was amaazing!! then we hear the icelandic string octect rehersale that was great to.At around 6:00am they open the gates we all rush in and get perfect center spots.Well the peeps upfront at least pretty much everyone from the 4um.Oddly they send us back and some other people frmo the other gate on the other side were let in and got are spots..But we still were upfront on the gate.We see Bonnie Prince Billy sorda playing around on stage setting up and all.He starts to sing and dose his little thing. It was ok..he seems like a really funny guy. After he was done a DJ came out and played some horible stuff. Then it was time.. Sigur Ros comes out and every one screams and jumps and everything. They were amazing they blew me away.As the light goes down and the stage crew sets up for bjork and everyone eles on stage Matmos,Zenna and the Icelandic String Octect. They start to set off fireworks but no one can see them stage the stage had this back drop so no one saw them.Few mins go by and the Icelandic String Octect comes back following Matmos, Then Bjork comes out in this black and green dress and shes so happy and excited to be on stage in New York. Hunter starts and the crowd goes nutz!!Every time Bjork would move her hands and do that little dance like im Cambrige the crowd went nutz. It was great. 5 Years was also amazing i loved her dance in it.. so sassy and hot.All the videos on the show were amazing!! i loved all of them.. When she ended with Human Behavior the crowd again went crazy!! it was so awesome.. same with Pluto.. She did a extera scream and ran around the stage with fire and fireworks and wow great..So the show ends and me and Manny "teknoboy1" stay after the show to try to get a chance to meet Bjork. Are friend Artity starts to bring us the door signs from backstage and gave them to us. I also got the real set-list from on stage. But anyways we are out side takeing off the tape from the signs and then we hear some screaming and out comes the whole Sigur Ros crew.. Jonsi had on a cowboy hat and ran around the parking lot screaming. I screamed i loved there music and great show and gave them a thumbs up while they drove by in there van.We never did get to meet Bjork but we did see a guy from the icelandic string octect. He was great..So thats it :) and there are a few people i would like to thank!! ( Manny,Matt,Whitney1,Whitney2,Maria,Whitneys boy friend (fotgot your name sorry), and everyone eles who i forgot to type in here!!. LOVE YOU ALL!! GREAT SHOW!!!! hope to see you next tour!!!

The concert was an absolute blast!!! I thank God that comrade bergsklyfta bought two tickets allowing me to be present on this spectacular show. Bjork was awesomely awesome (as usual). The special effects and fireworks were perfectly accompanying her throughout the entire show. The rhythm was literally felt on our chests and in our hearts. Her dress was soooo cool (well, again, as usual) with cute flowers here and there. The big flower on the right side of Bjork’s head was taken by the wind but who needs that flower anyway?!?! ;o) Apparently the ancient nature decided that without the flower it was better, and she was right ;o)
The people traveling with Bjork were no less extraordinary than the singer herself. Zeena Parkins was totally awesome with her unusually original and beautiful way of playing!!! Matmos and the Icelandic Orchestra were da best!!! The animations fitted the scene perfectly too.
Man, I don’t get it! How come all the artists from Iceland are sooooooo awesome?!?! Is it genetics or what?!?! Sigur Ros made a very powerful prelude to the concert! As bergsklyfta said it before “That drummer was sick!” He really was. I was really concerned for his drumsticks. He was great! The lead singer introduced very original style of playing guitar with a bow from violin. Sigur Ros’ violin quartet was really good. I liked their unusually shaped musical instruments. Other members were awesome too. Overall, Sigur Ros added to the originality of the concert. Icelanders rule!!!
Thank you, Bjork, for your original, unusual, beautiful, and very rhythmical music. Thank you for being the one and only! And thank you for gathering these talented people together and giving them to us!
As I said before, the concert was great. I will be waiting for more of those in New York in the nearest future!

P.S. I was Bjork listener before the concert, but I converted to the Bjork fan after it! ;o) Thank you, Bjork!!!

Manny's account of the New York experience:

Having flown into New York from Chicago earlier in the day on Thursday, and exploring Manhattan and Brooklyn all day long, I got to Keyspan park at 2am in the morning on Thursday night / Friday morning, making us the first in line. At first, it seemed a little crazy that no one else showed up until at least 6 or 7am, but I don't really blame them for not wanting to wait out in Brooklyn... It's not the safest of areas. The few hours after we got there were pretty unbelievable thanks to a REALLY nice security guard we met and who took care of us. =)

One of the best parts about all of the Bjork shows that I have been to has actually been waiting in line. It amazes me how community like everyone in line can get. People who have never met before hit it off right away and watch out for each other the whole day. They become your family for the day, and it was no exception at these shows. I've gone alone to the 5 Bjork shows in the US that I've gone to so far, but it hasn't felt like I've been alone at all. Matt, Corey, Sean and his brother from Maine, the cool guy from Manchester (I'm so sorry I can't remember your name!), the Whitneys, Adrian, Jacks Lament (your name was Maria, right?) and everyone else I met in line.... thank you so much for making the experience even more unbelievable. We all watched out for each other, made sure we were all safe waiting in line in the extreme heat all day, made sure everyone knew the latest updates with the line, and kept each other great company to make the line go by faster. Not only did I go home from New York with great memories of two amazing Bjork shows and some "I Survived the NYC Blackout of 2003" shirts, but I also left with some amazing new friends. =)

After waiting all day in line (and after tons of confusion about where we should actually line up), we finally were allowed in at 6pm and ran to our spots in line, just to be told we had to go back because they weren't supposed to be open yet. They accidentally let another group of people in at the same time, and they got our front row center spots, but we were still front row, just a little off center, so I didn't mind much. After an hour more of waiting there, listening to DJ LCD play some tunes, the show started.

At 7pm, Bonnie Prince Billy took the stage. The first night was pretty much the usual set he's been doing for the last couple US shows. Even though he has had a better attitude and looks as if he's been having a lot more fun lately. He was on for about 40 minutes the first night. The second night was an amazing set for Mr. Bonnie. He has a female accordian player / vocalist join him, and his set sounded so much more upbeat and fun then it had in the past. I really enjoyed his set on Saturday night. Both him and the accordian player were in good spirits and were smiling a lot. He was also on for about 40 minutes the second night.

DJ LCD played some more tunes for about 20 more minutes. He wasn't a very good DJ, but he played some cool music, and did have some trouble with the wind blowing the needles off the turntables.

Sigur Ros was next. I'm having a hard time even trying to put into words how amazing they were. I've loved them from their CDs, but have never seen them live until this weekend. They walked right by us and smiled on Friday as we waited in line, but had I known they would have been that good live, I would have attempted to talk to them a little more than just saying "hi." By the time they took the stage, I was so exhausted from a long day of waiting in line and not more than 2 half hour naps, so my eyes were feeling heavy. I left my eyes closed for a big majority of their first set and just listened to the amazing performance. Never has a performance, other than Bjork, brought me to tears until I saw Sigur Ros. It was by far the most beautiful gentle haunting set I've heard a band play. Jonis can't be human... the beautiful sounds that come out of him are unbelievably powerful. Every member in their group was equally amazing, from Jonis, to the drummer, to the string quartet, to the guitar player, to the keyboard/effects player. After they finished, Adrian and I looked at each other and we were both in love with Sigur Ros even more so now. I'm soooo thankful that they opened for Bjork and I will definitely try to see them live as many more times as I can. They're set lasted an hour each night, even though I could have listened to them play for hours more.

DJ LCD spun for another half hour while they cleared out Sigur Ros's equiptment and set up the rest of Bjork's equiptment.

Somewhere about 9:30 both of the days, her set started. The octet walked to the stage, followed a few seconds later by Matmos, then Zeena, and then Bjork. She started off with Hunter both nights. Great way to kick off a show! The crowd was so energetic and loud, and Bjork was feeding off the energy that we were giving her. Her show on Friday followed with Pagan Poetry, Desired Constellation (which I swear gets more and more beautiful everytime I hear it), Joga, Generous Palmstroke, All Is Full Of Love, Scatterheart, I've Seen It All, Cocoon, Unravel, 5 Years, Heirloom, Bachelorette, Hyper-Ballad, It's In Our Hands, Pluto, and followed with an amazing encore that consisted of You've Been Flirting Again in Icelandic, Isobel, and Human Behaviour. I'm glad they filmed both of the Keyspan shows, because she was so happy to be there and was so perfect that it would be a shame if people could not see how great the show was. The crowd was loving every minute of her show, especially after everyone started dancing more around Hyper-Ballad. I thought Bjork couldn't top her performance the first night, but I was proved wrong on Saturday with an even more emotional and perfect set. On Saturday, after Hunter, she played Unravel, I've Seen It All, Joga, Aurora, Cocoon, All Is Full Of Love, Desired Constellation, Generous Palmstroke, surprised us with An Echo A Stain, 5 Years, Pagan Poetry, Bachelorette, Hyper-Ballad, It's In Our Hands, Pluto, and finished off with an encore of Scary (which I had been dying to hear live!!!), and Human Behaviour! Unlike the first Keyspan show, Saturday's was complete with the Lynn Fox videos which are an important part to the whole visual presentation of the show. The fireworks were great both nights, and people had the breaths taken by the combination of Bjork's voice and the fire coming up around and over her. Again, Bjork seemed genuinely happy to be playing there and seemed beyond satisfied with the crowd's reaction. Can't wait to see all that was filmed so I can relive the experience as many times as I want.

The New York experience was complete. I couldn't be more satisfied with the way the shows turned out. So far, out of the San Francisco show, the Hollywood Bowl show, the Red Rocks show, and both at Keyspan, I would have to say the most memorable have been the Hollywood Bowl and the second Keyspan show. I still have Boston and Toronto to go, though, so let's see if any more surprises await me there. Hopefully Leila will be back in Canada, as I've still been dying to hear Where is the Line and Nameless.

Thank you Bjork, thank you to all the new friends I made, and thank you "Little Miss Brookyln!" ;)

Friday night: I took the W train from Union Square to Stillwell, I met some of the finest people on the way in, I showed them the parachutte jump, we drank cold beers at Peggy O'Neill's to break the sweat, I saw my first BJORK show and was awed.....the music, the venue, the fireworks, the cyclone, the fans, all within the beautiful hot summer night.

I have been a fan since the tender age of 10 and I have waited 12 years to see her live, It was well worth the wait and her being in Brooklyn (my home) was an even bigger treat. Between the stunning visuals and the amazing sound I was blown away. Thanks Bjork for your inspirational music and very excellent performance! I just wish she could have give us more, more, and more. Can't wait for new music!!! I can't wait till your next show. Bonnie Prince Billy I could have done without. Sigur Ros was very good :) Will be looking out for material from you guys. The memory of this amazing evening will be etched in my mind for the rest of eternity. Bjork is a true pioneer of modern music. To sum it up in one word: Breathtaking ;)

August 24th, 2003- Keyspan Park- Brooklyn, NY

If you’ve never navigated a vehicle across both the Goethels and Verrazano Bridges, you haven’t really lived a complete life yet. Coming from Philadelphia to see Bjork in person for the first time, seemingly familiar and confident with my highway driving skills, I pulled into the venue’s parking lot having nearly wet my pants from surviving NY’s organized chaos of highways.

I’ve had an affinity towards Bjork since her notes grabbed my ears with Debut. At the expense of hinting towards a religious slant, not that religion is necessarily a bad thing, I would describe my experiences with Bjork’s music as mystical. As a bumbling, lost philosopher at the time feeling the burn of a now long extinguished flame, I had decided somehow that if I were again to find true love, it would be at this second of 2 shows in Brooklyn.

Foolish to some of my friends, self-prophesizing to others, this improbable concept was born upon my purchasing of my ticket, literally seconds after my 2nd browser had made contact with Ticketmaster. I had it all planned out how it would go down. I’d be my quiet, reserved self, find a seat that will maximize my view of the concert, avoid conflicts, and enjoy the show until I was graced by the presence of my real ‘true love’. At this point I usually involuntarily stop this fantasy/dream/hope, probably because my conscious, logical mind says that the chances of such an encounter, of meeting the person you just vibe with, the one that you share similar loves, goals and dreams with, at THIS concert that I determined would be the place where I would meet ‘her’. If you knew me better, you’d know that I am not much for Western religion, though as a sign of respect and tolerance, I’d say that I had put my faith in Bjork in a way.

I was amazed at the sound quality. I wanted to assume that since Bjork’s voice is so distinct and so powerful, so crisp on commercial media, nothing would be lost in the translation from a cd to a live show, but I’ve been to too many concerts where I see acts hiding behind special effects and lacking in the area that matter to me.

I overheard a few of the sound stage people saying that those patrons in the GA could hear better at the expense of an optimal view of the Icelandic goddess and her band. If you wanted binoculars, they could be rented at the concession stands like Cracker Jacks. Then, take yourself to the top of the bleachers and lose the sound quality while seeing the sweat pour from the vibrating texture that is Bjork. I chose to be directly in front of the sound stage, planted in the center of the GA area.

Minding my own business, sticking to my predetermined plan for enjoying the show, chuckling again at the thought of meeting my dream, she emerged from a half-standing, half-seated audience of pot and tobacco smokers, beer and water vendors who promised the dude next to me that they’d bring him back a soda next time they went back to refresh their supply (which turned out to be false), and a would-be MTV Grind dancer tripping on E that nearly punched me in the face at least 20 times during Generous Palmstroke with his flailing arms.

Fireworks, fire, and a giant screen of moving pictures accentuated the show, but honestly the fact that this girl was hanging out with me set me off. I must rank this night as one of my top 10 of my life, and I’ve done a lot of things, met a lot of people, and visited a lot of places. I felt her warm, bubbling presence over my shoulder as I just melted away into the depths of Bjork’s notes.

As Human Behavior closed the encore, I knew that everything there happened for a reason. Potentially cracking or exposing my distrust of destiny, I reached into my pocket to give this girl my e-mail address and phone number, but hesitated and before I knew it, she had hugged me goodbye and this time emerged into the semi-aggressive crowd.

At this time I am kicking myself, though if my new assumption that she and I meeting on this night was destiny, and we would meet again if we were ‘meant’ to do so, was true, perhaps this letter has the potential to be seen by the right person. I am asking any Bjork fans at the show who may have run into this person or anyone who is a fan who wasn’t at the show for one reason or another but heard about this girl going to the show or any person surfing the web to find something your favorite search engine tells you is on this web page and you happen to read this and recognizes the girl from the description I am about to leave you of her, to let her know of my affections and desire to make some level of contact.

Though she was cleverly employing the metal fences in front of the sound booth as stilts, she was struggling with finding a good vantage point on account of her height in relation to where she stood (next to me}. She is only about 5 feet tall. Cropped brown hair. Was wearing a red shirt and dark blue jeans. Her name is Amy. An element of Asian descent. 23-25 years old [in my usually inaccurate opinion]. A music teacher on Long Island. Attended college in Indiana. Studied music. Played the violin in high school. ‘Trying to quit’ herself, her mom smokes menthol cigarettes. Her close friends don’t like Bjork’s music. Roseland ballroom. Had 2 beers. Thinks of herself as too polite, hates to be pushy. A magnificent combination of intelligence, personality, and physical beauty, I am hoping to once again meet this girl. If there is one person out there who helps me in this quest, I will be forever thankful.

Between Bjork's powerful voice, the beautifully unique instrumentation, the pyrotechnics and fireworks, I was left speechless. Thanks for an incredible show! I'm really glad they decided to set up that second show.

I finally got a chance to hear one my favorite songs, Aurora, live, I had previously seen her at one of the Radio City Music Hall show and didn't hear it then. I was in awe when the one guy from Matmos got up to perform the snow-crunching sounds! Very cool.

I had never seen Sigur Ros before, but they sent chills down spine that night. What a pleasant surprise, I didn't even know they were playing that night! I'd love to see them again in a smaller venue.

PS: If anyone has photos taken from the show, could you please e-mail them to j_arambulo@hotmail.com? This was certainly a night that had imagery I'd love to immortalize. Thanks in advance! -j

I went both nights and I am still rather speechless. It's hard to say anything other than "F*CKING AMAZING"
I fell in love with her all over again. Friday night was my first time seeing her since the RCMH shows and despite the 95-degree temperature, I was covered in goose pimples for the first two songs. No one else has ever reached me quite the way she does.

Thanks for everything Bjork!!! You make the world a better place!

Hello
It is monday. I can still hear her voice in my head. This concert was the most amazing thing i have ever seen another human do.
There is so much power in that voice. It makes you cry as you hear it, then smile with joy. What an experience.

Bjork you really have come full circle. Your great knowledges have turned to wisdom.
Thank you, thank you so much for being you.

peace

personal highlights for sat. night:

--when the wind blew the blue shell she was wearing out of her hair and she shook her head with a grin
--the screen was working so we could actually see her (not going to bother listing venue complaints)
--the fact that she played "Aurora"
--when she said, "Sank you Little Miss Brooklyn." with a distinctive roll on the r in Brooklyn

ah. bestill my heart.

At first I was hesitant to travel 750 miles from Indiana to NY to see a concert, even if it was for my favorite artist: Björk. But then I read that Sigur Rós was playing too and right then was when I knew that I had to be there at all costs.

So a few days later I was standing in the absolute dead center of the general admission section. Not only was I in the dead center but also about 5 feet from the rail which equated to about 20 feet from the stage. I could see everything perfectly and it was like a dream come true. It is literally like the artists are staring right into your eyes when they sing. Completely outstanding.

Bonnie "Prince" Billy was pretty funny. He was tuning his guitar and he asked his bandmate if what he was playing sounded like a "D." Then the audience answered him and he turned to them and said nonchalantly "Oh, you guys don't know." That basically says it all. Their music was pretty good but it was definitely overshadowed by the hope of the two future acts. He played for about 45 minutes before thanking everyone and exiting the stage.
(Also Björk was to the left of the stage watching his performance the whole time. Not many people saw her but from where I was standing I could see her perfectly. My eyes kept wandering over to her most of the time actually.)

Then at 8 Sigur Rós came out to the ending heartbeats of Svefn-G-Englar. There was some real quiet noise until they absolutely exploded into massively heavy sound. I had only heard 3 of the songs that they played that night (Viðrar Vel Til Loftárása, Olsen Olsen, and Popplagid) but that subtracted nothing from their performance. Even during the first song I was on the verge of tears. I felt so much raw emotion come out of Jonsi's voice; it was simply incredible. They didn't play two of my favorites - Starálfur and Flugufrelsarinn, which I really wanted to hear. However once I heard the first few notes of Popplagid I knew that song would make up for all the ones that I wanted to hear. I nudged my sister and told her that this would be one of the greatest songs she will ever hear live. Boy was I right on that one too. They played it absolutely perfectly. Just as soon as the song changed into the very last part, with Jonsi just singing and the drums getting louder and louder until the solo, I felt such a surge of emotion come over me it was just overwhelming. But the only thing more overwhelming was the fact that Björk wasn't even on stage yet and she still had 90 minutes of pure genius to bestow upon us.

At about 9:30 everybody from Björk's entourage started showing up. First the string octet, then Matmos, then Zeena, and finally Björk herself. I was so close that I could see that while she was walking by Zeena's harp that she lost her right feather ear ornament. She started giggling but went up to the microphone without retrieving it. Those who didn't know any better just thought she only came out with one. She wasn't on the stage but a few moments before exploding into "Hunter" and then I was just completely floored by the strength of her voice and the terrific job that Matmos does with her work at these concerts. Truly fatnastic. After Hunter a stage hand came out to pick up some sheet music that had blown off one of the violinists stands. Also I seem to be the only one who noticed but she messed up very briefly on Jóga. During the first chorous singing "State of emergency" she tried to say it one more time after that part was over. She got out a "S" sound before smiling and turning away but I caught it. It was so great to see her just brush things like that off and smile like she did.

The highlights for me were Jóga, Pagan Poetry, 5 Years, Hyperballad, An Echo A Stain, Desired Constellation and Pluto. I'm not too big a fan of An Echo A Stain on her album but played live it completely blew me away. She shined bright blue lights right at the audience and they were so bright that you could barely see for a moment when they first turned on. She hammered that song out with so much emotion in her voice; it was stupendous. It made me an instant fan of that song. I also wasn't expecting like, actual "fireworks", like, 4th of July style. So when they started going off for the first time during Jóga I was so surprised to see them. I felt that they really added to the experience. During "5 Years" her dancing was great. Sort of with her hands down low and her jumping from side to side; it was just pure energy. I think the dance she did during "Hunter" and the way she moves her hands and arms during "Pluto" was the best though. It really got us going when she ran away from the microphone and threw some air punches towards the arena.

Anyway I don't want to go on too long but in short it was the best concert I have ever been to in my entire life. I don't think anything will top it in the future either, unless Sigur Rós tours with Björk again. Plus I am dying to hear what will be on the new album. I've downloaded "Where is the line" and "Nameless" and was hoping to see them played live. But that didn't subtract from my experience -- the songs she did were incredible and I will definitely see her again.

Björk was gorgeous. These words do no justice to the kind of performance my friend and I experienced August 23, 2003. I remember how excited and impatient I was the week before the concert. I knew she was going to give a great show, but being there and experiencing it was just breathtaking and it surpassed all of my expectations. Björk is someone I truly respect. Her humility, her nonchalance towards pageantry, and her devotion to her art cause me to say such things. I love the way she loses herself in the music as if she is living, feeling, seeing what is coming out of her mouth.

For being August in New York City, the climate was wonderful. There was the cool ocean breeze that was so refreshing to those in the audience and I loved that scratchy sound it made on the microphone. Nature is ancient and she will most certainly let her presence be known.

I have to say that I fell “quietly ecstatic” in the middle of Aurora, a song I usually play on those cold winter mornings on my way to the university and not to mention when I put up my Christmas tree. I found myself with tears in my eyes and whispering “Spark the sun off.” Another great moment in the concert: the wonderful, pulsating rhythm of Pagan Poetry. An Icelandic masterpiece.

Of course there were moments when we all just had fun! Hearing the It’s In Our Hands remix live was just a great experience. We were all jumping and having a blast. It’s just amazing to see how Björk has so much energy after all those shows in Europe and in the States. She was enjoying herself and I definitely felt there was a true connection between her and her audience.

I have to give my share of praises to the beautiful, talented, and refreshingly avant-garde Zeena Parkins. She was wonderful and Generous Palmstroke was absolutely beautiful. Matmos and the Icelandic Orchestra were incredible as well.

Man alive!!! What’s up with Scandinavia?! It seems like wonderful people and awesome music just flow right out of that part of Europe. Sigur Rós was absolutely amazing. That drummer was sick! All of their albums are as good as mine. I wish I could say the same for Bonnie Prince Billy, but I respect his art and Björk’s decision to make him one of the opening acts.

Thank you Björk for sharing with us this art you create. It is raw, feral, delicate, inspiring, mysterious, and most importantly it truly belongs to you. What more can we ask for? In a world of pop and repetition, we have Björk - our Icelandic muse.

Please perform for us here in New York City soon again! That would be lovely! Tak!

I FOUND A WAY TO PUT WHAT I HAVE ONTO A CD.

OK, people, here is what i did! Pffffff... I went to the first show and already wrote my review on it. The second night i went back with no tickets but this time i got my hands on a tape recorder so i was able to get the show on a cassette tape. Here's the catch. I hit a button that i didn't realize i had pressed until 8 songs into the show and it was the lock button on the recorder. So, the whole time i thought i was recording i was'nt! It did'nt start recording until Generous Palmstroke. I have an MP3 of one of the new songs, Desired Constalation. It's live from a London show i think. I can always add it onto the CD that i would be burning...So, here is my question.

I FOUND A WAY TO PUT WHAT I HAVE ONTO A CD. I'M LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO HAS THE REST OF THE SHOW. THE BEGINING OF WHAT I MISSED. OF COURSE I AM ALSO WILLING TO TRADE AND HAVE OTHER STUFF OF HERS OTHER THEN THIS TOUR. PLEASE CONTACT ME WITH ANY INFO YOU MAY HAVE. THANKS IN ADVANCE!

bjork was absolutely amazing! it was mine and my fiancé's first time seeing her, and it was great! the sound was excellent, the atmosphere was perfect, the lighting effects were amazing...it's definitely one of the most unique shows i have ever seen. scary in the encore was a nice surprise as well. for me the last 5 songs before the encore were excellent! bachelorette had so much emotion in it, the harpist, all of the violin and cello players, and bjork herself seemed so moved by the music. i think the crowd was as well, there was just silence while she was performing. thank you so much for an amazing show!!!

(very excited about the next album)

quick note, Cvalda107's setlist is the correct one, not quest (who got the encore wrong), also IOH was the Soft Pink Truth mix (as previously)

Dazzling...Coney Island show.
Simply one of the best concert experiences I have ever seen.

/bhudson1 - 1393
OT but I HAD to share it with you guys!!!

I was quite excited since I hadn't seen her in concert before. However, I was a little annoyed and panicky since the train was extremely slow from Manhattan and it's quite a long way...in the end it took 2 hours!

I got there just 15 minutes before the stipulated start time (7pm), and I guess I shouldn't have worried since there were warm-up acts. It was at Keyspan Park, a baseball stadium, and I could hear the DJs keeping those who were already there occupied.

I got in and managed, despite my late-ish arrival, to get to the second row, right in front of the microphone . The weather was perfect, warm, balmy, with a gentle breeze that made it just right. The sun was still up, and the sky was blue and with a few cotton-wool clouds.

Then the DJs stopped and made way for the first live act. It was this folky Southern singer whose name I forget (Bonnie Prince Billy or something)...I checked him out when I first bought my ticket several months ago. He sort of turned up on stage wearing a nondescript velvet tracksuit (like Mo wore a few times) with this woman in a simple dress. He picked up a guitar and she took out an accordion and they started playing and singing. And they were pretty good...they had everyone swaying to their slow songs. They did about 6 or 7 songs for nearly an hour, and while everyone enjoyed them, I think people were getting a bit impatient towards the end! Still, they got a good hand as they departed.

There was a heck of a lot of gear on the stage, all kinds of amplifiers, synthesisers, speakers, cables. I remember thinking that I've never seen so much stuff at a Bjork concert (I have a few of her live DVDs)...she usually prefers a plainer stage.

Well, as the light started to fade, I got my answer. Out strode four guys...I thought they were her musicians to start out with, but when I looked at their faces, my jaw literally dropped. They looked incredibly like my favourite band Sigur Ros ...no, they were Sigur Ros!!

Imagine that! Going to a favourite artist's concert and then having your favourite band also turn up as supporting act!! When I booked the tickets ages ago, that Bonnie Prince Billy guy was on it and TBA for the other act. I had NO idea they were coming at all.

Just to explain who they are. They are Icelandic as well, and their most famous work so far was the soundtrack to Vanilla Sky, "Agaetis Byrjun". Their work is like no-one else's...soundscapes of gentle screeching guitar and electronica which is actually quite soothing, punctuated by super bass and percussion usually at a slow rate. They sing entirely in Icelandic and Very left-of-mainstream...I tried to get tickets for their show at the London Barbican but they sold out too quickly so you can imagine how I felt as they started . Even though they are Icelandic, I never thought they would hook up with Bjork for some reason, though I had thought that it would make an excellent combination.

Anyway, they started to play and had no frills - no smoke, no pyrotechnics, just a few light effects and a string quartet to back them up, but they were AMAZING. The lead singer was also on the electric guitar for the first song. Then he switched to the keyboard for the second. Then, like some mad genius, he started to play his guitar with a violin bow (finally I know how they make their trademark sound) in a really effective way. For the next song, the second guitarist started to play his guitar with a drumstick, tapping it six times on the strings then allowing it to bounce and vibrate to create the main melody. The lead singer played with his bow and guitar and then towards the end of the song mimicked the other guy with the tap/vibrate routine and then at the climax started beating the hell out of the strings with the bow so much that he destroyed the bow by the end of the song! He took up a fresh one for the last two songs.

All this time he was singing powerfully in his trademark falsetto like some angelic choirboy lost in some hellish landscape of red and violet lights and frankly weird music with a tortured expression on his otherwise fresh-looking face as he strove to get the right power and smoothness. It was a great vocal performance in itself. At other times, he sang in a more normal voice, but still noticeably higher than most male singers.

And THE POWER was incredible...beats physically thumping on your chest so you could hardly breathe during the crescendos of the 7-10 minute long songs. It was an hour-long work of art. By the end of their bit, I had almost forgotten why I had come, I was that content and blown away by their performance. People who had come for Bjork and had never heard of Sigur Ros were saying "that was f***ing awesome, who ARE they?" I think they won a lot of new fans yesterday. Good on them...and I am DEFINITELY going to their next show in London!!!

Oh yeah, I nearly forgot...Bjork

A few people around me and I all had the same opinion that while it was great for us that she had asked Sigur Ros to support her, it was however a big mistake for her personally since they were in real danger of overshadowing her performance. The question on everyone's mind was: how could she top that? Sigur Ros got an enormous ovation and cheers as they left.

It took over half an hour for a dozen techies to remove all of Sigur Ros' gear (all the Yamahas, Korgs etc). All that was left were a music station for Matmos, two harps (one big and traditional, one small and electric) for her harpist Zeena, a string octet, and her band's stuff. Much sparser.

By tis time, it was pitch dark, but still lovely and warm with a nice sea-breeze. Out came Matmos, then Zeena, the string octet and then her band. When she finally appeared, you couldn't hear anything but screams and whoops as she sprang onto the stage wearing a floaty white dress composed of spirals like sea-shells and a gigantic blue-green spiral flower on the right side of her head. Her feet were, as usual for her gigs, bare.

Indeed for her first song, "Hunter", it seemed that our fears would be true. She was perhaps a tiny bit nervous, and the difference in volume of the music and her voice with those of Sigur Ros (which were still ringing in my head!) was palpable. Then she tore off her flower headdress and slammed straight into a set of fierce songs, dancing.

Maybe you never knew Bjork could dance. Not like anyone else, but excellent in her own way. Totally freeform, unchoreographed, but full of the energy of the song as if she were living out the music. Like a forest fire with her energy and ferocity. But strangely fragile at the same time. Very hard to describe, but extremely effective when seen just a few feet away.

Highlights included "All Is Full Of Love" which had everyone swaying, a rarer non-album song "Desired Constellation" which I hadn't rated so much before but whose hook was incredible live, my favourite "Bachelorette", her trademark "Hyperballad" and then...something. We hadn't heard it before. We hadn't heard anything like it before. Crazy thumping electronic music pulsating and throbbing like the heart of a robot (if it had one!). People were saying "what the f*** is this, what the f*** is this?!" and dancing like crazy. It was in fact an amazing remix of "It's In Our Hands", her last single which, while good, didn't really grip me that much. But this was scintillating.

She didn't give us any rest...the next song was her craziest - "Pluto" - yet another gear up, but at least we knew this one right from the start. Flashing white lights, plumes of flame from the stage floor, smoke, a sky full of fireworks accompanied Bjork as she tore from side to side of the stage, thrashing like something possessed. The crowd was heaving, jumping in ecstacy - total sensory overload!

They all departed to incredible ovation...they had matched Sigur Ros. But the crowd wasn't satisfied. Much whooping, foot-stomping and cheering pleaded for an encore...and she came back with a great "Human Behaviour".

After this, it was over, but the cheering didn't stop for 10 minutes, I kid you not. We were all hoping for a second encore, but as the tech team swarmed all over the stage, it was plain that it was all over.

I can honestly say that I've never been to anything like this. Totally mindblowing!!

/bjosh - 1392
As since there are no pictures yet I will give you a mental one. Bjork singing All is Full of Love at the top of her wonderful voice. The breeze off the coast coming right from the fans making it look like some kind of movie effect. Flames, fireworks, and a very wonderful crowd that didnt try rushing the stage when she got on! I drove all the way from Rochester, and I knew it was going to be very spiritual as I approached bk.

I love the improvisations she puts in her live music.
I love dynamic she gets from the stage... this time it was less theatrical and more powerful beauty... I think whoever said above about being in heaven at a rave inside a carnival!!!

Perfect 10. I can still feel the glow. Peace all.

the second song was unravel,

the whole live experience was quite over wehleming. i went with my mom
and we had a great time
the fire works everything was just incredible.
it was like sexual exstacy, and love, and the ultimate high all in one.. all in her voice..
i closed my eyes and i listened

if i had to some up the experince in one line it was like this

" state of emergeny, how beautiful to be."

i had the pleasure of being at Bjork's show last night...and what an evening! I had the privilege of being in the third row of the general admission standing field...so there were only two people b/w myself and Bjork. Bjork was absolutely full of life and energy and looked lovely. From 5 Years to Human Behavior, I was totally ecstastic! The pyrotechnics, fireworks, Bjork dancing and sparks flying all fused to form somthing wordless and absolutely amazing. Bjork is one of THE best live performers I have ever known. At most concerts I have been to, there is this empty sort of feeling when it's through, like - I NEED MORE!! With Bjork i felt absolutely triumphant when it was over - thrilled, excited and wholly satisfied. This was definitly an evening I will not forget - all the standing and waiting was most definitely worth it!

an indescribably fine job on the part of Bjork and all involved

thanks YOU!

What a night! Beautiful weather, stars in the sky, fireworks.... And, oh yeah, Bjork performed! :)

The whole experience was fantastic. Bjork was just on fire.

And for the people who came to the carnival afterwards instead of running for the train back home, WE HAD THE BEST TIME! There's nothing like riding a swinging ferris wheel, while listing to It's Oh So Quiet...ZING BOOM!

When I saw her for the first time, (Hammerstien) I felt like I was at a rave. Second time (RCMH) I had died and gone to heaven. This time I had died and gone to heaven to find out there was a rave going on inside a carnival. ~ Saturday was the most beautiful day, weather-wise, in NYC this summer so far. Even without a concert such as this, the night would have had a truly magical quality. If you got to see Sigur Ros last night, you no doubt caught something very special. The venue, for all it's faults, combined with the weather to augment their live show.

Reading Friday night's setlist, I am a little jealous because she did not play Scatterheart and Isobel. Not to offend, but I could do without "An Echo, A stain" (although it's seems to be one of her live favorites) and "I've Seen It All". ~ A simple way to make Keyspan a great venue: open up the whole facility and build the stage 10 feet higher. Those 10 feet would have made a big difference for a lot of people last night.

The songs were great...no fantastic. Everything was clearly heard. The Pluto ending was awesome. It was the best show I've seen in a while. I hope she returns to New York A.S.A.P. and does more stuff off her new album. Bjork will always be Bjork and no one will take her place!!!!!!!!

Mayor to City: Brooklyn to Be Re-Named Bjork-lyn (I know, terrible pun)

What an absolutely fantastic experience last night at NY show #2, which, at moments, bordered on the spiritual and transcendental. I brought my mother to the show who enjoys Bjork’s music but who had actually never experienced a live concert. I would give her age but she’d kill me if she discovered that I had revealed it to god and everyone. I will say that I myself am 36 and let those of you reading this make your own guesses. Nevertheless, she was floored. We were in the GA section with only 4 people between us and the very front. At one point she even made an effort to grab a flying drumstick.

When the New York shows were announced, I purchased my tickets immediately and my expectations and anticipation were high and steadily grew. When Sigur Ros was announced as an opener, these feelings became overwhelming. Could the show even hope to meet these expectations? Yes, and it effortlessly exceeded them. With Bjork performing Joga, an orchestra playing amid fountains of flame, and fireworks exploding above, I could feel my heart and chest collapsing. Bjork's vocals competing with the steady ocean breeze that blew last night, was an example of a happy circumstance that ultimately leads to perfection. Also, credit must be given to the performers with whom she shared the stage. The concert could not have achieved its heights without the passionate and energetic performance of Zeena Parkins’s harp, the cool atmospherics of Matmos’ sound (M.C. Schmidt and Drew Daniel), and the accompanying strings of the orchestral ensemble.

Thanks to you Bjork for all of your beauty and grace. You are indeed as unique as the sound you bring to the planet.

Cheers!

-Tom G.

P.S.: Bjork, consider this an open invitation from an unofficial ambassador of Chicago. You are always welcome to the third coast and I hope you will make it a stop on your next US tour. You have a great many fans who love you, and your music. Hey, I'll even take a day off from work to treat you to a Cubs game.

SANK YOOOOOOU lil misss Bjorklyn!

/xcop13 - 1374
Went to both NY nights, as well as the SF show. Both venues were cool quirky spaces which were in and of themselves fun to be at. While Cyclone stadium was a cool venue, I have to give the prize the SF for best venue. HAving Bjork in front of the you and the Bay bridge in the back can't be beat. Some comparisons... the fireworks were definitely better at the SF show since they were so much closer to the stage. THe NY shows they were launched from boats (I think) and were a little further away from the stage. At the SF show they were literally right above the stage and seemed HUGE.

The crowd at the NY shows were definitely more fun. Much more energetic. NY night #1 I was standing next to my girlfriend and saw what I believe to be the first Bjork show celebrity sighting since I haven't heard anyone mention any others. "Justin" from the Showtime series "Queer as Folk" was there with his boyfriend / boy pal. He was literall right in front of me and I didn't notice him until my gf pointed him out. If you haven't checked out that show you really should, one of the best dramas on tv im my opinion. My girlfriend and I didn't talk to him since I figure he gets enough people pestering him.

I can understand why some people might've complained about not being able to see Bjork in the seated section. Night #2 I got as far as 4 people from the front and it was still far away. Maybe that's just the way these stage setups have to be. Maybe Bjork might not like fans putting stuff on stage or being too close to her but I doubt that. I remember when I was at a show at Hammerstein Ballroom and a few people put boxes on stage and one person put a beautifully crafted boat on stage and she looked a little nervous when she was dancing about near them.

Night #1 was much cooler. A releif in comparison to night #1 where the temperature was much higher. The screen was finally working. USed through most of Sigur Ros' set and during Unravel. I think myself and my gf had a lot more fun the first night. While its fun to be up close, its not worth the aggrevation or dealing with the aggresiveness of other people trying to get in front of you. I'm also fairly tall and some shorter people in back of me were annoyed about that. My advice, if you're short them get to the show earlier and get a good spot. Another thing, I can understand how some people got tired and sat down for awhile before Bjork, but those people were at times a hazard. In the crowd you would seemingly see an empty area but it was usually people sitting. Unfortunately people would often push to get over there, not knowing that people were sitting.

Funny moments... some middle-aged half balding guy with a funny eye and lots of jewelry and his "pleasingly plump" (I'm being nice) girlfriend were talking a lot during Sigur Ros. Some blond guy got sick of it and shoulded "shut the fuck up" at them. The guy tried arguing a little and his girlfriend told the guy to be polite and have some manners! Thanks granny.

Other funny moment... getting my camera in. Night number one no problem. The security guy looked at me and said "you look harmless enough" and pretty much picked my bag up once and put it back down again. It's all about which guy you go to when getting your bag checked. The rule of thumb with security guys, if the guy looks like an asshole, he usually is. NIght #2 I got one of these guys. He went over my bag with a fine tooth comb. Found my digital camera and told me I can't bring it in and that I should put it in my car. I told him I took the subway there and he said "well sorry, you can't bring it in". I asked him if I could check it anywhere and he said no. He offered to hold the battery to which I responded "well how do I know that you'll still be here after the show?" At that point I exited with my girlfriend but the wheels were already turning. I gave my girlfriend the battery and she put it in the little side pocket in her jeans. We got into line again and she got in a few minutes before me. I went to the same security guy, who I figured would've remembered me but didn't, and found the camera again and told me I couldn't bring it in. I told him I was screened by him earlier and hid the battery in a tree out in the parking lot. He responded "That's a new one... show me you camera." I showed him where the battery should be and he then flagged me to his handheld metal detector buddy. "Peter Gabriel, c'mere" (I was wearing a Peter Gabriel t-shirt). He scanned me and then let me in. A camera smuggling success story. While I only took a few pictures I mainly took a bunch of little videos since they seemed to come out better than the pictures themselves because of the odd lighting.

All in all it was a fun time. ONe thing I have to say, Bjork was a lot happier in NY both nights in comparison the SF. I think Bjork as a whole is much happier at the NY shows than at the other ones since it's her adopted home over the past few years. Last tour, or was it the one before at Hammerstein, she told the audience "that's for being so good to me" or "thanks for supporting me all these years." She appreciates NY and shows it.

Lastly, the stage in SF was slightly elevated and made it much easier for people to see the show. It probably would've been a good idea for them to have done that in NYC as well to make it easier for "vertically challenged" people to see the show. All in all a great time. Even Bonnie "Prince" Billy seemed better. I missed him for both NY shows considering how boring his performance was in SF, but it seems like he was much better in NY and was playing different music... was he? It sounded better as I was making my way in. He got a good round of applause, beyond the polite applause last night. That's good to see considering I know he's more talented than his showing in SF and some other shows would suggest.

Hope the next round of shows, when ever they are, are more intimate venues. Still regret back JUST missing getting into the Riverside Chapel shows. Was in the standby line for the night she shot Reverb. I was one person away from getting in on the standby line :(

Enough from me :)

HELLO. There were 2 opening acts. I wouldn't have expected Bjork to come on until at least 9:30. Get a grip.

/boyy - 1372
just got back from keyspan park show with sue and stephanie

-munched turkish food on ride down from old lyme ct.
-nearly avoided and untimely death on van wyck near JFK airport
- we waited in line like everybody else but were surprised to find that when let into the venue
we were about 20 feet from center of the stage.
-will oldham and his sweet accordianist played some simple, beautiful songs---nice lyrics.
-blue sky faded into a gorgeous pink clouded twilight
-sigur ros were incredible... i had high expectations but not that high....are they for real???
-the sun set and the evening was all blue velvet and starlight and then the queen came onstage.
-i was so close i dont think i believed it was her at first...she seemed so tiny in white.
-her voice sounded sharp and i was amazed at the energy she put into the her raging performance.
-the harp player is a total rockstar.... i actually was playing air harp... go figure...
-matmos played a larger part in the show than their corner presence would suggest... their beats and breaks are the glue that seemlessly tie together songs fom many differnt bjork albums
-its amusing to watch classically trained musicians with wooden cellos violins sit and read sheet music while pyrotechnics and flames and fireworks blaze( and wind blows... watch that sheet music)
-the encore was actually the song SCARY, and then human behavior... and then it was over...
-we walked thru coney island and thought to ourselves "how can place like this still exist ?"
-the wonder wheel turned and the bumper cars bumped and the freak show freaked and we drank slushy drinks and ate shish-kabob and the smile never left our faces.

THANKS BJORK,
you busty little songstress minx
see you next time,

WOW!! I just came back from night 2 in New York - and this time I was in the thick of things in General Admission! Great view from what would be about 15th row - and dead center. (At times, I felt Bjork was singing directly at me - YAHOO!) Strange that all of us tall dudes were right there in the center - seemingly blocking everyone else's view - sorry about that!

What were the differences between Friday and Saturday??

Well, first off... Since I was in the SKYBOX suite yesterday, it was great to be in GA tonight to actually SEE the show (instead of just hearing it.) Although VERRRRRY windy, the screen and videos were finally up and running ("Unravel" is AMAZING!), and thankfully there was also a live video feed on a screen to the side - albeit a tiny screen. Furthermore, the large neon discs were turned off throughout the show - thank God.

As for the show... The tremendous wind blocked the insane fireworks display that began the show on Friday night. All pyrotechnics were saved for the show proper - and it was so cool to see them shoot up behind the stage and explode directly behind the action that was going on!! With all of the fire and firecrackers and craziness, it really amped the crowd up into a frenzy. Bjork traded in "Scatterheart," "Isobel," "Heirloom," and "You've Been Flirting Again" for "Aurora," "An Echo, A Stain" (YES!! SO CHILLY IT WAS HOT!), and "Scary," which was a welcome change.

Matmos really turned up the crispy chunkiness tonight while the Icelandic Octet battled with the crazy wind gusts that rattled their music stands and fluttered their sheet music. You could see them smiling and laughing in bewilderment - trying to keep up with Mother Nature. And Bjork herself was having difficulties with the weather. Her now signature green Alexander McQueen feathered headress didn't even make it past "Hunter," again the opening track. When the right hand side piece eventually flew off, Bjork acted as though it was planned and just whipped herself into her now-famous dance that closes the track. Even with the nutty gales of wind blowing directly at her, Bjork delivered like she always does - with an amazingly energetic and powerful performance not soon to be forgotten.

"It's In Our Hands" indeed!

Thanks again, Bjork!

BACHELOR: MY STORY ;)

Being fortunate enough to attend both NY shows (and surviving sleeping in my car on W 23rd ST. with hookers and pimps using my trunk as office
space) -of course I can only say it was all completely worth every second, minute , and hour. The opening acts were just right and Bjork gave 110%
energy and smiles...Although very windy, nature's elements could not compete with the force that is "bjork". All that aside, what makes the most of
the live shows are the people that come together from near and far to meet and share their common interests and bonds. Bjork should be proud to
have such fans= I am sure she is :) Grant it, not all fans are perfect...there are some REAL arrogant assholes that slip thru cracks (pun intended), but
for those who exemplify the kindness of strangers: Manny.....Corey.....Manchester fella.......Sean and his brother.......Tim......
John and Mike (aka. $1.50 Poncho couple)......Adrian : I traveled to Brooklyn alone, but returned home to Philly with new good friends...thanks for
the company and the laughs during the 12 + hour waits in line ...and for the fun run to the front row!!! "Just GO!, GO!, GOOOOOOOOO!!!" ;)
PS...second show, I somehow managed to catch one of the drum sticks used by Sigur Ros. I only write of this for 2 reasons...1) because i feel fortunate...
and 2) to hopefully rub it in the face of that no good cunt who smoked tacky cigarettes and tried to squeeze me out of my position from the front
row: "Nanny, Nanny, Boo, Boo"

just got back from show number 2. even better. my friend and i got there at 9am. we were the first people there. met some nice fans from la, sfo, and even new zealand - this couple flew all the way here just for this show. we got to hear zeena soundcheck, as well as the icelandic string octet. we waited until 6pm to get in. before we got in, this nice security guard let me, my friend, and this other girl (zoe from sfo) in one at a time before the gates were opened to look around and buy t-shirts. and i got to watch sigur rós do their sound check!!! :D it was awesome. i just stood there with this big gaping mouth. when we got in, we were right in the front (standing) but not in the middle, since they let other people in right before us at a different gate (which they weren't supposed to do ... errrrrr). but, we were situated right in front of the drummer for sigur rós, which is my favorite place to be when i watch them because he's just so amazing on the drums. sigur rós outdid themselves again. since they were opening, it was a shorter set than normal, but they still played 7 songs (they're songs average 7-9 minutes in length). it was the best watching them up close, cause i got to actually hear the drums themselves, and not being amplified through speakers. it was awesome. on hafssol, they totally lost all inhibitions at the end and totally let loose and just rocked it! and, at the end, i was begging the stagehand to give me the lead guitarist bow (he often plays with a cello bow - amazing sounds come from his guitar), but he wouldn't do it. so, a few minutes later, he was breaking down the drumkit, and i saw him pick up a bunch of drumsticks and yelled out to ask him if i could please have one of those, and he tossed it right to me!!! so i have orri's drumstick!!! :D :D :D i was good for the night. but, i still had björk to look forward to!

my friend was not feeling well, but this was her first time seeing björk, and she just had the best time watching her. björk was dancing up a storm the whole night, and her voice was 100% absolutely perfect - not a single mistake, not a single flaw. and she looked beautiful. she played another great set - a few different songs from the night before. oh, it was so much better to be right up front for this concert. the sound was just so excellent.

björk's setlist was already posted, but here's sigur rós' for those interested:

1. new intro/milano
2. gong
3. olsen olsen
4. viðrar vel til loftárása
5. hafssól
6. popplagið
7. smáskífa

I was a bit apprehensive with all the reports yesterday about the stage being so far from the stands. my seats were very good and i had binoculars so i had no issue. besides, bjork could be invisible and the music would have still knoked me off my butt. she was so amazing. but having said that, her performance was stellar, her movements, the visuals, the energy. fantastic! every note was a blessing.
as were sigur ros. the opening acts added to the pleasure of this show as well. i got three greats acts and great music from the DJ, what a bargain!!!! as for bjork going on after nine, that was expected and it was "horrible" it was more music for us!
The weather was a bit more cooperative with an outdoor venue I am sure from reports of yesterday's show. yet the wind knocked over some of the octette's sheet music stands. and it was rocking the speakers a bit which i think affected the sound somewhat.
I missed seeing the intimacy of the last tour, but this is quite the opposite-
Literally Explosive performance to spread out to the world!
and i am not just referrubg to the pyrotechnics!!!!

OK so what's up with the 2 1/2 hour wait for Bjork to finally come onstage??!! Concert was supposed to start at 7 and she didn't come on till 9:30. Horrible. Huge impersonal venue - miss the tiny venues like those she did in London 2001. I don't think I'll go to another US concert - but I still lover her cause she did rock the house last night.

Yay! i was the first to get my message published... so, ok... please enjoy the GIG and keep the etiquette in the concert ( every Björk GIG is like to see a comet that only pass near the earth once in 1000 years ) in order to enjoy it as well as possible. I also saw her concert in Madrid and was absolutely fantabulous! i hope there was not those problems with the giant screen tonight.

Björk, we love u, we are expectants for ur new Lake Experience...

Greetings from a lucky spaniard!!

PS: i can't wait, i can't wait... what can i do 'til the moment?
