I missed Jóga :( /Litill_Stulkan - 2626
I just have to write that the entire trip and the concert did not let me down. It was my first björkconcert. It rocked just as much as only she can rock. /arash - 2613
hello bjork we were at your concert in Iceland, precisely in Reykjavik. It was fab as the the Beatles said and sung and wrote. Please don't come back to Reykjavik, soon, take your fabulous music to the rest of the world. They deserve it. Viva La Independance. /MWC - 2606

There are some experiences that leave you short on words. Björk's concert on Monday night is such. I'm left with more of an intense feeling inside then anything explained by words. Before they started, we were all entertained by some wonderful tribal beats and piano music coming through the speakers. No one was on stage.. for all we know it could have been someone's iPod on shuffle, haha. But we had to comment quite a few times on how great the music was. When they were finally ready to start, a pack of 10 Icelandic girls, wearing baggy & brightly coloured one piece suits, decorated with paint on their foreheads and carrying brass instruments, led the entourage of people who would be performing. Mark Bell soon followed along with Chris Corsano who sat by the drums, Jónas Sen on the piano, and Damien Taylor on the synths. Björk then came out wearing an a beautiful golden dress that resembled some sort of leafy lettuce or cabbage. Haha.. it flowed nicely as she performed and shook beautifuly as she jumped around and danced on stage throughout the nice. She ahd some nice sparkly gold tights on. Her forehead was covered in a light silver paint. Hair was simple, yet very pretty. After a big applause, Mark Bell quickly got to work and played the beats to Hunter. Having Mark Bell back on tour was obviously the perfect opportunity to revisit some of the Homogenic songs. The brass band chimed in where the strings would have been, and sounded beautiful! It almost seemed as if they brass band was the way it should have been recorded. Björk began to sing and her voice was in perfect shape.. though cracking just a bit on ´how scandinavian of me´as it usually does. But it sounded so powerful and crisp and her yells were dead on. Amazing choice to open the show with. Pagan Poetry was next. The bass was so heavy on this song.. making each note pound in your chest. The highlight of this song would be the quiet ´I love him´ moments. It sounded lovely. Again, the way the brass group was arranged for these live versions makes it sound so lovely. They were the perfect choice for this tour. Jónas also added some lovely celeste sounds to make it sound extra sweet. The 10 piece brass group also joined in for some of the choir parts. The warm opening sounds to Unravel came next. Either Damien or Mark Bell also added some lovely glitchy sounds to the track. Björk topped herself on this song.. it´s always been one of my absolute favourite songs of hers and the way she sang the second verse in this song made my heart melt. I literally felt my knees shake as she played with the vocal line and added some cute extra lyrics at the very end. Many people were near tears by the end of this song.. so gorgeous! Aurora followed.. simple enough version of the song. Sounded pretty much like the versions on the previous tours. Still beautiful though. She next introduced Antony to the stage for the first of the new songs from Volta. He came out to a big applause, also with silver paint across his forehead, and the two of them hugged on stage and had such huge smiles on their faces as they looked at each other and held hands. Very cute moment. After a short pause, they began Dull Flame Of Desire. The lyrics were very romantic.. about seeing a fire in someone´s eyes and such. The brass group was a bit heavy on this song, but works well with the amazing beats in the background. Björk´s vocals are very sweet and playful.. and although I´m not a big fan of Antony´s style.. he did sound good too. The both were entertaining to watch, moving around very much as though they were quite nervous, haha. Lovely song, but one I think will sound much better on the album then it sounded live. All Is Full Of Love followed after Antony left the stage. The opening left everyone so excited and Mark Bell made the beats sound extra crisp and heavy. For some reason, the entire experience just made the moment feel so extra beautiful and romantic. The setting.. the sound.. her voice all came together and delivered a beautiful version of the song. Even my boyfriend was in tears when she hit her yells towards the end of this song. She of course finished with her lyrics from Domestica. With such a great start to the show, I had completely forgotten that she was also touring for Medulla since there were no performances for that album outside a few promotional gigs. Oceania started with Jónas playing away at the piano and the brass group covering all the melodies. It turned out to be a gorgeous live version! I had always wondered how it would sound with instruments, and it was so fun!! I loved this version of the song. Pleasure Is All Mine followed. Again, it sounded very nice with the instruments, but I think she could have picked a better song off Medulla to perform. Who Is It? Triumph Of A Hear, Where Is The Line would have made for a more powerful addition to the setlist. Vökuro was next! She was just accompanied by Jónas on this song and it was absolutely lovely!! The Icelandic audience especially loved hearing her version of such a classic song. From that point on.. lets just say that the show took a very rowdy turn... The intense beats from Army Of Me started blaring out of the speakers. It sounded like quite the explosion and the synths sounded a bit different then usual! I looooved it. This one set everyone in the audience crazy.. so hardcore! She premiered another new song next.. Innocence. The beats were very hard, probably done by Timbaland with a lovely ´uh ´yell to the kick. Crazy and chaotic video game like synths accompanied the drums and Björk layed some incredible vocals over the top of those. This was probably my second favourite song of the whole night!! It was very intense. The brass group sounded the intro for Bachelorette next. Beautiful version. I especially loved the ending this time around.. a cute marching band style brass outro with Jónas tinkling away at the pianos cabaret style. It was so playful and adorable. Björk then announced another premiere... Wanderlust. The song was lovely. I didn´t think the brass group sounded right with the beats at first, but as the song went along and her voice blended with everything, it sounded very pretty. This will be a huge hit from her album, I think. She decided to go out with another bang.. we soon heard the deep bass of Hyperballad coming out of the speakers. Pretty version.. seemed to be quite calm for most of it, as the crowd sang along.. then towards the end.. when the beats were about to kick in again, Mark Bell took the song for a very unexpected turn and replaced the beats with LFO´s ´Freak´beats and took the song to an INSANE techno ending. It went for quite a while with hardcore techno. Damien was also playing around with a reactor table, adding synths and sound effects, as it was projected on a screen behind him. It looked quite impressive. She of course followed that up with Pluto. Haha.. great version. The brass sounded a bit funny in this live version to me, but I still loved it as a whole. Lovely version, lots of energy as always. After Pluto, everyone left the stage and waited a few minutes before coming out for an encore. Björk came out and dedicated the next song to Greenland and the Faroe Islands... What followed, Declare Independence, was the highlight of the show for me. WOW!!! It was HARD political electro punk Björk. I never thought she could again make something comparable to how hard Pluto was, but this song was right up there in yells and energy. Screaming Delcare Independence over and over, ´raise your flag,´´make your own flag,´with the brass group chanting ´higher higher.´ Perfect way to end the show and leave the crowd mental. So though its easy to describe what the show was like, the feeling it leaves you with is very personal and hard to explain. But yes.. she rocked my world yet again and left me with the impression that this was one of the best times I have seen her live. /teknoboi1 - 2578
"Declare Independence, Don't Let Them Do That To You" An amazing concert (on my 30th birthday no less). Dull Flame of Desire with Antony was GORGEOUS! A definite highlight of the night. The versions of Hyperballad and Pluto were very good too. And Declare Independence was definitely another highlight, a fantastic song which she dedicated to Greenland and The Faroe Islands! All the new songs sounded very good, it's gonna be an amazing album if all the songs are as good as the four she played that night. Thorir /charolastra - 2577
