Wow, what a fantastic show. I saw Bjork when she came to Seattle in 03, and this performance was much better. It took about 1/3 of the set for things to get interesting, but when they did, it was amazing. In the beginning, she was pretty tame, and the music was pretty much a rote performance of the songs in their recorded form. But starting with AIFOL and Joga, I started to notice some new song arrangements, which were awesome. And of course, as people here are pointing out, things got utterly nuts when she busted out Army of Me. Bjork, the band, the lighting and effects all combined perfectly for a moment of pure force and energy. Everything after that was great. Hyperballad, Mother Heroic, I Miss You and Declare Independence were beautifully arranged and performed. And the new jazzy arrangement of Oceania was an unexpected and fun surprise. But the best part of the show was seeing how alive and in-to-it Bjork was. She was dancing wildly and screaming stuff into the crowd. Quite a difference from her 03 Seattle show. If I have one complaint, it's that she didn't perform Human Behaviour, my favorite song of hers, but oh well, maybe next time. Anyway, thanks, Bjork, for coming back to Washington and reminding us all why you are a musical genius and still such a relevant force in today's music!! /diskette7 - 2909
I came to this show from Seattle with my friends while on a visit out there. It was easily one of the most beautiful and energetic performances I have ever been to. Having never seen Björk I had no idea what to expect. It is a testament to the strength of her show that the weak points were all technical issues that she has nothing to do with. Glitches with video feed and I'm guessing the fear that large flowing animal themed curtains would burst into flames given an introduction to pyrotechnics caused a very long delay. But as soon as she galloped on stage to the beat of "Earth Intruders," I (and most people there) knew we were going to be in for a treat. The audience was a little tame, but that's understandable given the late on-stage time. Björk's vocals were fantastic, and she was extremely expressive the entire night. Songs that stick in my head as being particularly memorable from that night: "Pagan Poetry:" boy can that brass chorus sing the eerie "she loves him, she loves him..." like none other. shivers down the spine, i tell you. "The Dull Flame of Desire:" oooh how I love this one from the new album. It subdued energy was accented by the addition of some nice beats. In particular, the way she closed the song was excellent. "Joga:" not only is this one of the best songs Björk has ever written, but her rearrangement of the strings into horn parts for the brass chorus was brilliant. It works quite well, and gave a new attitude to that haunting song. "Five Years:" big giant power-house of a song, duh! You couldn't help but stomp along with her, shaking your finger at that someone who has a lot to learn about love. "Army of Me:" Whoa!! totally blown away by this one. I'll be honest, this is one of my least frequented sonic outings when I listen to Björk. But I think all that is gonna have to change now. I think that song works quite well live, when it can be as loud as possible. "Mother Heroic:" was quite possibly the cutest thing in the entire world. Hyperballd's transition into Pluto. We partied hard with driving rave beats. awesome. She put on a fantastic show, and the people who back her up did incredible as well. All of 'em. Thanks to Björk and her team for coming to the Gorge and showing us some delicious music. /Dougles1 - 2908

There was so much energy in this performance that she projected it into the people around her. I had an awesome time; it makes a lot of difference if you can actually see her and watch her dance around and throw herself into the music. The version of I Miss You she plays is so great, so fun to dance to I was glad I got to hear it again. I also loved the brass band and her electronic artists (their names escape me) because they were into the music as much as she was; the brass girls with the glowing spots on their foreheads and the flags on their back! So neat! I only wished I'd brought my own flag to wave. /candeldandel - 2902

This is the first time I have seen Bjork live. It was a bit surreal at first. After having watched and listened to countless recordings of Bjork live, the first song, Earth Intruders was a strong but predictable start to the set. I was sitting near some other younger girls who came to see Bjork, but they didn't know any of her newer songs. It was fun dancing and singing along with them to her other well known songs however. Not until Joga did I feel like I was experinecing what Bjork could really do. I Miss You had amazing new and surprising beats, And of course Army of Me was a powerful crowd stomper. When She started playing Mother Heroic I felt like she had wrapped up a present especially for me. I knew the girls next to me didn't know it, but it was a treat for me and all the other older fans I'm sure, to hear this one live. The highlight for me was Hyperballad which started out good but the ending was beyond what I expected. There were lazers and heavy beats and Bjork dancing like a fool. It was awesome. The encore was super fun. I had been somewhat disapointed that she hadn't played Declare Independance but as her last song it was a perfect shebang ending to a perfect concert. The set had to be shorter than a regular concert since it was a festival but there were several jewels that made me feel like I got the full Bjork experience and more. Thanks for a great night Bjork. /sebastion - 2899
Please come to Melbourne Australia on your Volta tour!!! /josh_luvs-bjork - 2898
Great show! Much better than the Seattle 2003 show. And this was my 4th Björk show and loved it more than the last three. Highlights: Arcade Fire played before she did. This will be a show you can tell your grandkids about. Several old songs from Post and Homegenic that we didn't hear on the last tour. (Army, Miss You, Five Years + Mother Heroic) Army of Me sounded unreal with the laser lights. The new mix of Oceania with the brass section - good stuff The new band and orchestra is much better! Björk was visibly animated while she sang. The past shows I've seen was usually just her standing in front of the microphone. Tonight she was dancing all over the stage. Lowlights: The large projector screens kept having problems. They eventually fixed it before the middle of the set. I have a feeling many of the younger 20-something year olds that attended had no idea who she was, but stuck around to see the final act because they were too stoned to drive home. I heard the dorks sitting next us say, "How about that Arcade Fire I never heard of them but they was awesome... hey, do you know what this group Bjork sounds like?" Sheesh.... I was clearly the oldest one there. Not all of Björk's songs translate well into an outdoor festival settings. Some of her more mellow songs would be better in an indoor theatre setting. Maybe next year, she'll come back and play either Benaroya, the Paramount, or McCaw Hall in Seattle to play to her core fans. Selbie /selbie - 2897
me and my best buds went camping just to see bjork at sas. it was sooo amazing and we will never forget it! Bjork rocked the entire gorge to the ground and then came back out and rocked our brains out! (i really think a couple of heads exploded by the end of declare indepedance!!!!!!!!!!!!!) i have loved bjork ever since i heard her and the set list was such a great mix of old and new. the band, lights and lazers were all fantastic and i wish it could have gone on the rest of the night! this, being the 2nd time i have seen bjork live, will not be the last. if i could i would follow the tour around the world and never miss a show...maybe someday! ...sigh.... i love you bjork! you are the cutest lioness out there! volta kicks ass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! /electronicbecca - 2896
I'll be the first. Well, I drove up from California this weekend to see Bjork again. We saw her last Saturday at Shoreline and she totally rocked it. I didn't want to wait another 5 years and wake up all love-less so I decided on a whim (Friday morning) to buy tickets for Saturday's show and drive 14 hours to see her again. And of course it was worth it. The crowd was better at Shoreline, too much granola up here in the Northwest and can safely say the Bay Area loved her a little more. But it was worth it to see Joga and Hunter this time and Pluto, Declare Indepedence, Innocence, Wanderlust and Hyperballad all over again. Army of Me is definitly one of the greats. I was looking for the Reactable again and was a little dissapointed to find it missing? Also the video feed totally killed it for the first half of the show. But it was so late that I got to squeeze my way to the front after Mother Heroic, when at the Shoreline I was stuck in the upper concourse seats. Bjork has some awesome dance moves and it was fun to be all kinds of crazy and dancing around with her. Being a part of the crowd in front was great dancing and stamping my feet to Pluto and Hyperballad. The only question that remains is, should I now try to make it to Toronto in September? /innie726 - 2895
