I'm I dreaming now.... Yes I'm dreaming now... oh I wish I can rewind my dream..
the dream that I was in very front of the stage watch her dance all over the stage...
the day that I finally just a few meters from her... and between thousand of people in the same crazyness... 'cause i thougt she will never touch Indonesia...
but It Happens!!
I still think that was a dream... a very beautiful dream... Please come again, Bjork..

I got to sit in front of the crazy swan dress girl in the above picture for 2 hours before the concert. I even told her: "Lu cantik bangat".
-
Bjork (pardon the lack of umlaut, I'm not on a Mac) started off a little shy - not making eye contact - but gradually warmed up to become something equivalent of a flying plastic bag trapped in a wind tunnel - delicate but making a lot of noise (her Bernhard Willhelm dress was also plastic bag-ish by the way).
-
The great thing about Bjork concerts is that the songs played are reinterpreted to sound different from the album versions and previous live versions of the songs - the Wonderbrass girls played brass arrangements to substitute strings this time.
-
I was also totally looking forward to the new HARDCORE version of Hyper-ballad (Mark Bell of LFO mixed in Freak from their album "Sheath" into the 2nd half of the song) AND THE BAND PLAYED IT AND BJORK WAS GOING CRAZY MOVING HER WHOLE BODY/HEAD, THE AUDIENCE (where i was standing anyway) WAS JUMPING IN UNISON AND THERE WERE LAZERS AND STROBES AND CONFETTI IT MAY BE THE NEXT BEST THING TO DRUGS. She was in a great mood, making faces, even asking people to sing along - AND THEY DID, SHOUTING). Incredible. It wasn't the completely introverted woman I know from the Royal Opera House DVD - she was more the Debut/Vessel Bjork, rock-star material. ERASE YOUR FLAG x 5

I didn’t know what to expect at Bjork’s concert. That pretty much changed when I met a few guys while I was in the queue 2 hours before the gig was scheduled to begin. They were huge fans, told me what to expect and were pretty much convinced I’d be a fan once I saw her perform. How crazy were her fans? I stood next to a girl with a self made swan dress and saw girls with Volta eye make up.

Bjork came on stage 30 minutes and everyone went crazy. With The Wonderbrass, her drummer, a programmer for effects and beats, and a guy on the Reactable., she performed songs like “All Is Full of Love,” “Cover Me,” “Pleasure,” “Pagan Poetry,” “Earth Intruders,” and “Innocence.” I was in awe watching her dancing non-stop like an energiser bunny and it was nice seeing her enjoying herself on stage. In between songs, she thanked her audience numerous times, and apologized for not being able to speak their language. “But you can’t speak Icelandic too, so it’s ok,” she cheekily declared.

The highlight has got to be the last song, “Declare Independence” where crazy lights and confetti made the crowd go even crazier where everyone sang “raise your flags, higher, higher,” on top of their lungs. People were crying, and I left the concert having new respect for this peculiar artist who blew me away for the 90 minutes she was on stage.

Bjork entrances with magical mix of modern and primordial

Paul Agusta, Contributor, Jakarta

It was something most of her fans thought would never happen. We all thought there was more likelihood of the winter Olympics being held in Lucifer's hometown, than of an artist like Bjork coming to Jakarta. It must be cold down there in Hell right now because, thankfully, we have been proven wrong.

She came, and she dazzled -- beyond any expectations. Dressed in a lavish metallic dress that made her appear like an ethereal faerie-like creature from the future, she burst onto the stage at Tennis Indoor Senayan, on the night of Feb. 12, with energy equal to that of a star going nova.

It all started with a darkened stage with a starkly black backdrop looming behind angular, symmetrical apparatus of mysterious function.

Then, as the audience began to fill the venue, huge intensely colorful banners reminiscent of medieval battle standards slowly descended at the back of the stage, heralding the approach of musical royalty.

Suddenly, there she was, marching across the stage with her entourage of minstrels -- her horn section, all clad in brilliantly colored costumes, her drummer, keyboardist and sound and light wizards -- in an energetic procession of electrical impact. The crowd greeted her with massive enthusiasm and amidst the cheers, there was no question that the festivities had begun.

In a show bright with creative brilliance and talent, everything seemed to shine with a magical glow yet the renderings of certain songs seared the soul with the clarity of shared human experience.

Bjork beguiled the thousands in attendance for a brief two hours, with her story songs of primordial longing, love and devotion (Hyperballad and Pagan Poetry); alienation, anxiety and frustration (All is Full of Love and Army of Me); intimate human connection (Joga); and human dignity (Declare Independence).

Her tiny frame shook with the intensity of her giant voice as she leaned forward to the crowd as if beckoning all to gather round and hear the secrets of life she had to tell. Then she danced and pranced across the equipment crowded stage as if expecting everyone to follow right behind.

While that was clearly physically impossible in the cramped confines of a space more appropriate to a conventional rock show than the sweeping epic of a Bjork performance, she did succeed in getting the crowd to follow her vocally during her rendition of Joga.

And as the voice of the audience filled into the rafters, this sorceress of musical magic paused as if enthralled by the sheer joy and unity of this human sound, before joining in and carrying the melody on to its intended fruition.

Throughout the show, the music thrummed and hummed in an extraordinary cascade of human experience and emotion, somehow magically conjured in a venue notorious as a sound engineer's nightmare (due to it propensity for persistently uncontrollable echoes and thick reverb).

Not a whisper or a shout unheard or out of place, the sound was impeccable, intertwining beautifully with Bjork's fairy-queen-like dances of exuberance and ecstasy, and the mind warping laser play that bathed the audience with an other-worldly glow.

As Bjork sang her lyrics of the mystery and banality of human existence, the laser inscribed words of indiscernible definition over the heads of the swaying crowd. In the end, the meaning of it all was clear enough; art is a language that everyone understands.

And Bjork and her troupe -- musicians, technicians and engineers alike -- can all speak this language exceedingly well.

WHOA! Bjork rocked the whole space given at the stage and on our ground! It was superb...i can't say enough in words...but too bad there was only 4 songs from Volta being sung, plus no 'Generous Palmstroke', 'Who Is It' and 'Isobel'...but anyway, it was her first live concert in Jakarta...and man alive, it was astounding! I wanted to cry when she sung 'Joga', 'Desired Constellation' and 'Hyperballad'.

But the concert for me was not that well for about two songs.

There's this guy next to me who's so obnoxious. He and his girlfriend came when Bjork sung AIFOL and he sang really loud with lyrics from who knows where he could find the words, and his girlfriend keep on shouting 'Eg elska thig' in a very blurry screamings.I think Bjork would skin them alive if she had noticed them. So when suddenly they left after 'Pagan Poetry', I feel truly blessed. sorry, random ranting, just can't help it.

It was the greatest show ever!! That is the first time me and Bjork get so close, i came early so i could be at the very front of the stage and i made it.

All of my favorite song was sang excellently!! Especially when i heard Unravel, a vibe of memory swipe on the back of my spine coz that is a remembrance of my late dear friend, Yuska.

If Bjork is a religion, i'm totally converting. Please please do come again to Jakarta!!

This is the first time i saw bjork live with my own eyes. I have been a fanatic fan of her. This show was wonderful, from the beginning till the end. The song list was great (though i expected more from vespertine). The highlight of the night of course is declare independence. I helped LadyMasquerade (she wore the legendary swan dress!) raise the flag!
It was one night to die for. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE come again to indonesia, bjork!

No words can describe how amazing Bjork was. I've watched her twice before and I think she was a bit restrained because of the stage size, but that didn't stop her from giving an incredible performance. I loved that she sang both Bachelorette and Joga.
When she sang her closing song "Declare Independence", my friend and I raised our flag (the only one in the whole place).
The concert felt short because I wanted it to go on forever. Thanks, Bjork!!! Come again
