| Many days passed but I still dream of this show. I took a train and crossed 5700 km from my tiny town to Moscow to see Bjork singing live on stage. Honestly the whole damned Moscow was waiting for it for 14 years! Peaches rocked. She screamed: Bjork invited me! Bjork invited me! Oh really, if she didn't say that, no one of the audience would understand that! She screamed 'I Don't Give A Fuck! I Don't Give A Shit! '. Funny girl. Waiting for her LP.. Then we waited for Bjork the whole fuckin 20 minutes. Then she came out with all her band - Matmos, Zeena, Icelandic String Orchestra and I'm-Sorry-Forgot-The-Name-You-Were-The-Coolest-Musician-There-Anyway :) I thought: 'How is she gonna come out? Like a bat? Like a volcano explosion?' but she just came out and started her I've Seen it all. Just with strings, like an intro. Then Hunter began, like a real pagan dancing. I never liked this song very much but when you see it live, you can get breathless! Girls that were standing near me, i am so sorry, i sang all the songs with Bjork the whole show... You gotta see the audience when Joga started. Olympic Sport Center was rockin! i was standing near the stage and i felt these hot fires burning while the chorus. Olympic was rocking too, when she sang All is full of love, Pagan poetry, Bachelorette and Hyper-ballad, I thought I'd go crazy there, it was marvellous!! It's in our hands is pretty good with SPT arrangement but I thought it would be a bit calmer or what... It was agressive, like an introduction to Pluto, the ultra-agressive song of hers, I really thought she explodes when she sings it. After Pluto Bjork & Co. went away for a while. Come back, Bjork introduced the band. Ah, first she asked us: do we speak English? we said yes, and she said that we speak Russian but she speaks Icelandic, huh-huh! She finished the concert with Still-Alive-I-Wish-It-Will-Be-Alive-Forever Human behaviour. We all sang it with her, there is no any persons who doesn't know the lyrics, show me anyone! Then they walked away. Having said Spasibo [ thank you]. It was brilliant, I was waiting for it 5 years of my life, since i learned who Bjork is. Get your calculators: i'm 16 now, minus 5 what we get? I learned Homogenic when i was 11 years old, such a clever guy I am :) Pretty soon I get the photos -- coming soon. PS: I made a little present for Bjork - I threw a little bear onto the stage with a little postcard with my e-mail [arthurpivovaroff@mail.ru] on it. | yes, maybe a weird choice for peaches to open for bjork, but at least she was fun and energetic. the more she sang, the closer was the magical moment: bjork + moscow + for the 1st time. we got the space within 8 or 10 meters from the stage. bjork's entrance was somewhat delayed, and the people around began to feel a little nervous. some screamed 'someone call bjork', 'has she came at all', 'bjork-come-out!', and when the technician girl started climbing the rope-ladder - 'that's beneath bjork!';) the girl in front of us played hysterics, screaming 'bjork' repeatedly at the top of her lungs. at last they came out: matmos, zeena parkins, leila arab, the icelandic string orchestra, and bjork herself with the green flowers around her ears. i was particularly surprised to hear scary: a rare one, but maybe the bjorkiest of all bjorkish songs. the people went nuts when the fireworks broke out during joga. it seemed like the whole place could burn down to hell. another impressive song, desired constellation and its hypnotizing visuals made the audience stand still and listen closely. the most ecstatic moment was probably the quick transition between pagan poetry and bachelorette: from this point, 4 raving songs in a row. following that, the band stood up and left the stage. some of the audience could be seen making their way through the crowd, but we knew for sure there just can't be no human behaviour. to total roar and applause, bjork and the musicians returned to perform marvelous generous palmstroke with subsequent long-awaited human behaviour. the drawbacks to mention were the not-as-good-as-it-gets sound and the choice of concert hall itself: had it been smaller and more convenient, the touch with the audience would be much closer and...ultimately intimate. however, the dream has come true. {nourish} /dmitry - 856 |
| Темнота, движущаяся, колеблемая чьим-то дыханием, передергивание прожекторов, далекие искры, и очень странные звуки - глухие, будто и нет их вовсе - неразборчивые, словно кто-то играет в лесу. Снова тишина и темнота - такая беспокойная, первобытная, будто что-то должно произойти. Она не делает никаких эффектных появлений - просто выходит на сцену вместе с музыкантами и почти без аккомпанемента поет I`ve seen it all. Опять в темноте, в черном коротком платье с пышной нижней юбкой, в синих гольфах и лакированных "бабушкиных" туфлях, с двумя громадными голубыми "ромашками" из перьев на ушах. С Hunter начинается самое захватывающее. Вы становитесь участником языческого действа, зачарованно глядите на хищные, звериные движения маленькой великой шаманки. Басы дробят душу на миллионы осколков, которые вспыхивают и сгорают в пламени огненных факелов. И вот вы уже кружитесь в этой поганской пляске вместе с ней, как она вскидываете руки, трясете пальцами, жадно облизываете губы, оступаетесь и падаете, поднимаетесь и падаете. Из всех песен двух последних альбомов Homogenic и Vespertine она выбрала наиболее сложно аранжированные и менее мелодичные. Из хитов прозвучали только Bachelorette, Pagan Poetry и финальная Human Behaviour из Debut. Ее голос, оттененный перкуссиями и струнным оркестром, мечется в немыслимых модуляциях - от звериного рыка, волчьего воя, последнего стона до победного крика и вскипающего шепота. Пять новых композиций настолько отличаются от всего спетого, что, слушая их, порестаешь понимать, где звучит голос, а где он осыпается компьютерной крошкой. Басы кроят горячий воздух, его зефирные пласты оплывает на голову. Колет в ушах, в желудке, в ногах - колет так, словно вас завернули в стекловату и раскрутили в центрифуге. Она слепа, двигается так, словно находится в стеклянном кубе со светом и звуком - и нет зрителей, нет Москвы, нет Вавилона. Уверен, что Бьорк не было бы скучно в таком мире. | Yes the show was absolutely awesome, and I did a 2000km trip to get on it and I'm still feeling amazed. It was the best gig I've ever been on. She performed all my favorite songs, especially my now-all-time favorite "It's In Our Hands". AND NEW SONGS ARE THE BEST THING I'VE EVER HEARD FROM BJORK!!! Especially the one with killing noises... aaah, it was great. BTW, Peaches were definately rocking. /Transmission - 845 |
| Brilliant concert, thanks a lot. We were very lucky to get inside quite fast and saw Peaches who rocked :) the blood part was shocking :). Bjork was fantastic, I especially loved the performance of Hunter, It's in our hands, Pluto, Joga,Bachelorette... The only problem were the tall people in front of me...Anyway, thanks for the great evening. | It was amazing. Better say- incredible. Yes- I did miss the Peaches’ performance- don’t care. Yes –the line in order to get to the arena was enormous- I could care less. Yes – there were thousands near the scene- and I was among them. The point is – this unique human being finally came to Russia. It's In Our Hands, Desired constellation, Pluto were magnificent. | Hopefully next time Bjork visits Moscow her show will be staged elsewhere and better organised. I had to leave like 30 minutes after Bjork started her performance. | Because of the mess at the entrance gates we missed Peaches (do not really care about it) but were inside right before Bjork started her show. I found a comfortable position (right in front of Bjork) so the sound experience was really good. Bjork was in her "balley black-swan" dress and with Alex McQuin flowers around the ears ;) I deeply appreciated new songs, especially the second one (Nameless???) with the Coil-like rhythm. Videos for Desired Constellation, It's In Our Hands and Pluto (the highlight of the night!!!) were absolutely great!!!! And the flames - "state of emergency...is where i want to be!.... superb!
