When Bjork took to the stage, I felt the air in the Pavillion change. She looked insane in her outfit, and I delighted to think what Joan Rivers would have said. I was very close to the stage and I could feel her joy in performing in front of us. It was inspiring. I loved how she calmed us with her low songs and how she revelled in her power to make us move and dance. Although I wish we had a bit more room to do so. All of the songs were great. But As soon as she performed Isobel, she sent us on a wild ride, which nearly killed us with the newer version of It's in our hands. The visuals as well as the beats made my body whip around and dance. And just when you thought you could not be any more happy she did a rendition of Pluto that was orgasmic. I remember before the concert I was listening to the news and how depressed I was at the state of the world. Bjork ereased that dispair and gave me and my freinds hope. Wouldn't it be great if at the next peace talk Bjork performs? /marcacoderre - 1751
WOW BITTER FANZ OUT THERE.....I'M WILLING TO PAY EVERY SINGLE DOLLARE I EVER RECIEVE TO BJÖRK JUST TO SEE HER STANDING 500 FEET AWAY FROM ME BECAUSE SHE IS WORTH IT /Bjork meets BiF - 1737
I arrived late because my ticket had a different venue listed (the Suffolk Downs). The Suffolk Downs would have been such a better venue for Bjork, why it was changed, I have no idea. I arrived late, parking wasn't bad. I didn't mind giving my camera to securty, they were friendly. I didn't mind paying $8.00 for my beer, either. I didn't even bother to get a seat of front, people looked uncomfortably packed together. I held down a table in the way back, with a clear view somewhat askew from center stage. I was far back, but I could see the whole stage during the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. When Bjork came on stage...FINALLY...everyone stood up, everyone. People were standing on chairs. I had to stand on a chair the whole time, everyone was standing. I couldn't see anything. Everyone has their complaints, everyone has their praises. I don't really have any perspective because I only saw one show, but even from the back I was floored. I think everyone else was regardless of venue issues, really. /Eurolymius - 1720
The electric harp was my favorite part, second to Bjork. The prohibition of cameras was not. If cameras were prohibited, why post the unauthorized pictures? You've Been Flirting Again in Icelandic floored me. /Eurolymius - 1718
to 16 valve--some points about the venue and prices are valid but please there is no reason to put others down for what they enjoyed......no one's opinion is correct......i have seen her many times before and thought this was a great show as well......you didnt and thats fair too.....if you feel ripped off there is no need to take it out on fans who really enjoyed themselves....people's opinions can not be taken as fact as that is what they are opinions....so please just let those who had a memorable time leave it at that and maybe you can move on as well /The Ghost - 1711
Pardon me for having a semplance of a life but to pay 50 bucks for a ticket to see a concert and have to fight for everything is too much. I'm not going to arrive 7 hours early for a show just so I can see someone. This will be the last general admission show I EVER go to. I couldn't have cared less if Bjork blew me after the concert. NO artist is worth putting up with a mile long line, crappy seating, nazi staff, poor sight lines, $32 dollar t-shirts (Shame on Bjork for that. She *should* know how bad that is), and poor sound. I'm positive she's unaware of the venue issues but some others she should be. The set was predictable and even though the last 5 songs or so were indeed great, it didn't make up for the rest of a lacklustre performance. She was about as personable as a crutch. I don't expect the usual ass kissing some other performers give you but a bit more from her would have been "nice". Only a true brainwashed diehard would have thought this was the "greatest show ever". I've seen her at least 20 times. This was in the bottom three. Anyone who saw a couple of others from this tour (either live or on some of the vid's circulating) would see this as fact. /16Valve - 1705
Well it was my first Bjork live experience and I had no idea what to expect. I was just blown away. I thought that maybe with all the instrumentation on the albums a live show would be a stripped-down version, but it went beyond any expectation, with the string ensemble, harp, effects and all, to say nothing of the visuals and Bjork herself. She just owned that show. Everysecond of the night. Anyways, it was awesome, and I would really got the distance to see her again. I just wish my computer was up and running before this past hour, so I could write fresh thoughts. If you haven't seen her, check her out. - frankzeppelin /frankzeppelin - 1700
This would be my second Bjork concert, I saw her first in Brooklyn both shows were simply amazing. Although one note the Fleet Pavillion as a venue sucked ass. I mean really give people room to dance if they so choose. I did not like being so cramped together like a herd of sheep. Regardless of that when Bjork came on stage it totally made up for the crapy venue. Her performance was so intense I did not mind the fact that there were no fireworks. Also the people waiting in line all were awesome very easy going and laid back (good atmosphere). P.S. hats off to silver feather man...freggin nice. /Isobel68 - 1698
i had ticketts to this show but last minute i couldnt get to boston.i am so dissapointed.i happy that it was amazing for the people that went.: ) maybe next time. /sarahc. - 1691
"Excuse me, But I just have to explode this body off me!" Immortal words that pretty much summed up the feelings of elation each of us shared during the show. Wow, I don't think I will ever be able to recover, the show was that good. It was made better by the fact that I had been planning this trip for over 4 months with my 3 best friends, and everything just fell right into place perfectly. My friend Paul and myself flew all the way from Richmond to see the show (Boston, by the way, is one of the best cities I have ever been to) and had to save up ample finances to afford it. All the logistics just seemed to work themselves out-as if it was just simply meant to be that I was to come to the concert. First off, my other friend Michael B was going to Boston University, and it just so happened to be his move-in weekend the same weekend as the concert, meaning his parents would be in town, and were able to: show us around and rent us a hotel room. When Paul and I arrived in Boston, we were able to enjoy the town for a day, eat at a really nice restaurant, check out the underground music stores (which had good Bjork selections by the way-better than in Richmond, VA!), and just hang out. When the day of the concert came along, time seemed to go by like snails caught in glue. I kept warning my friends that if we didnt get there early, we would not get a good place in line. So by accident and default, both at the same time, we arrived at around 1:30pm. There were maybe 30-40 people in front of us by then, and we came in time to hear the sound checks being performed (so exciting). But like I said earlier, the nearly 8 hours we waited from the time we got in line to the time Bjork came on stage seemed to take as long as the 4 months I had been anticipating and planning for the concert. Not that any of that mattered since like so many other Bjork fans are able to do, I made friends with the people waiting in line with me. I must say that I am really excited to have met Hibah, who has written on the 4um for quite some time, and it was a major "Its-a-small-world-afterall" moment to put her face with the name... I mean, how cool is that to see someone that you read responses from everyday, and then to talk to them face to face. That was definitely a highlight of the trip for me (Besides of course=seeing Bjork!!!) Anyway, fast forward to the concert. Since we got there so damn early, we were in the third row, front and center! Beautiful seats, the stage was so close. After spending $183 on Bjork merchandise (7 t-shirts and the Live Book-I'm a nut I know) the Yeah Yeah Yeahs came on and I was, for the most part, quite entertained throughout their set. To prove how nuts I have been about this concert, I even bought their CD the moment I found out they would be her opening act for the concert. Its not really my type of music, but the song 'Maps' is simply amazing, and Karen O was an amazing performer. Their set ended around 8:45pm and Bjork came on at around 9:30pm. When Bjork finally came on to the stage, I felt like I was going to explode I was so excited. She looked amazing in her black and pink 'starry' tutu. I was so close, I could see all the joy in her face performing her songs to the audience, as well as hear all the strain and power in her voice. It was beautiful! All the songs she performed sounded better than they did on the albums; her voice was so raw, the beats were so intense, and the strings sounded crystal clear. Her 'band' is freaking amazing and talented. Matmos are the best 'beat providers' I think she has ever worked with. The Icelandic String Octet were amazing, and it was funny watching them stare back at the crowd and smile at us! And last but definitely not least, Zeena Parkins! My gosh, she is both beautiful and talented, and makes amazing music. Zeena added a sort of artful ecclecticism that further enpowered the songs. The setlist was incredible, and one that I almost entirely predicted. While we waited in line, my friends and I came up with our ideal setlist for the show, and I was only off by four songs!!! The highlights for me were Pagan Poetry, Isobel, Bachelorette, An Echo A Stain, and like everyone else: Hyperballad, Its In Our Hands (SPT mix), and Pluto. What a way to get the crowd excited, and dancing too!!! I thoroughly enjoyed the backround visuals, and didnt mind the lack of fireworks, Bjork provided enough sparks as it was. And I have never seen her dance around like that before!!! She is such an amazing performer, and that concert will go into history as one of the best shows I have seen...until the next time I see her. Thank you Bjork for coming to Boston and performing, you were amazing. Now please finish the Lake Album soon, I cant wait to hear it!!! Until next time, michAELS P.S.-It was nice talking to you Hibah! I hope you and your friend enjoy the rest of your time in Nantucket and I hope to run into you again at another Bjork concert!!! /Carbunkles85 - 1676
This was my first Bjork concert. I'm not much of a concert-goer but I HAD to see Bjork - there was just no question. I arrived about an hour after everyone else did - WHAT A LINE! The first thing I noticed was all the beautiful people- gentle, smiling, friendly, thank you for a great environment. Then came the YYY's - not much of a heavy music fan, but they were cool - somewhere between the Ramones, Concrete Blonde (remember them!), and the Violent Femmes. Not being a regular concert goer I was excited just to be there and I thought the seats were good. My heart pounding - it began - the wall of sound, the strings, bass, harp, rhythum, the VOICE! but alas - no visual. I did not see anything. At 5' 3" I stood on the chair to peek over the bobbing heads, but then everyone else behind me grumbled. Frustrated at first but then came to a middle ground. I sat down in my chair in the forest of fans and listened, closed my eyes and opened my ears - let it penetrate, then I teared up and did not let the disappointment of not seeing her overwhelm me. We walked away cleansed, ringing in our ears and melodies ponder in our minds, even now 5 days later. Thank you Bjork, maybe someday I'll see you - thank you for taking the trip to Boston, I hope that the Boston crowd energized you! New England people are beautiful people. jujubeanhead, nh /jujubeanhead - 1674
First Bjork show, and it was amazing. The crowd was OK, there was no one rude near me, but i could see tons of people being dragged out by security. The guy in white = cool. I'm glad he got a seat up front- anyone who puts that much effort and creativity into an outfit (or lack thereof) deserves a better seat! I actually liked the YYY- although i thought it was strange that Karen O sang with her back to us the entire time. Bjork's outfit was crazy, i loved it! I couldn't believe the amount of energy she put into the show. Favorites: Joga, All is Full of Love, and PLUTO(which was SO amazing). A big hi to the cute guy sitting next to me (left side of the pavillion, about row 13 or 14). Thank you Bjork and everyone else for an absolutely magical night. :) /mszebra - 1672
BJORK FASHIONS A NIGHT OF CONTRASTS by Christopher Muther, Boston Globe Staff September 2, 2003 The flickering beats, scraping textures, and plucking strings that characterize Bjork's music were all secondary to the woman herself on Sunday night. Behind Bjork's petite frame raged a battle between the bubbling smoothness of the Icelandic String Octet and the caustic bramble of electronic duo Matmos. But for most of her performance, Bjork was oblivious to it, lost in her own blueprint of pleasure. The show was uprooted at the last moment and changed from a festival-style, outdoor concert with fireworks at Suffolk Downs, to a general-admission performance in the semi-enclosed FleetBoston Pavilion, minus the fireworks. And given the reserved tone, the chairs felt more appropriate - although her devoted flock didn't use them. The evening didn't begin reserved, as Bjork arrived onstage with rings of green feathers circling her ears, pink starbursts dotting her black body suit, and a puffy skirt clinging to her waist. She resembled a warbling tropical fish as she launched into "Hunter." But this is how Bjork cleverly tricks an audience into entering her universe. As she danced a mutated chacha in this Phyllis Diller-inspired ensemble, you could only chuckle at the cuteness of it all and submit to the whimsy. But underneath the feathers and wiry energy is the intensity of Bjork's lyrics, which shared top billing alongside her caterwauling. It's often easy to forget just how personal Bjork's lyrics are with the distraction of swan dresses and textured rhythms. But on Sunday, the lyrics were unavoidable. They were also stunningly beautiful. "I have a recurrent dream," she sang on "Heirloom." "Every time I lose my voice I swallow little glowing lights." Many times she sang these songs with nothing but the stark accompaniment of a harp or with the strings circling her in lonely agreement. The first half of her show felt as still and chilly as a February snowfall in Seydhisfjordhur, particularly the Icelandic "Sidasta Eg." But signs of melting began to emerge during "5 Years" and continued in earnest during a lovely "Isobel." The show reached a frenzied peak with the energy of "Bachelorette" and "Hyper-ballad," giving Matmos an opportunity to overpower the string octet. The throbbing lights transformed Bjork into a tornado of dance. Over the course of the evening, she gave her audience a look at both the passionate songstress and the club-loving sprite, and did so flawlessly. A remix of "It's In Our Hands" and a guttural rendition of "Human Behaviour" capped her confessional evening with a positive bounce. Opening band the Yeah Yeah Yeahs have soaked up plenty of positive ink this year, but while the trio demonstrated a strong knowledge of New York performance punk-pop, it did little to demonstrate why it has generated so much hype. Lead singer Karen O called to mind both Siouxsie Sioux and Mary Katherine Gallagher as she stumbled and tripped around the stage in torn fishnets. The music is catchy, but by no means memorable. /The Ghost - 1669
This was my first "big artist" concert, and I'll tell u, it will take a long long time to get so much energy from the stage from only one person! Bjork's simply fabulous, her voice her unique way to dance even her weird clothes and those flowers in her head, everything could look ridiculous in any other artist but in her it was just... her! How can u describe the emotion, the energy? When I got outta there, I was feeling electrical, as if I'd taken some ecstasy or something, but my Mild Marlboros couldn't give me all this brightness... Bjork's like a drug, take care not to be addicted! Or even better, just be! /katiomau - 1668
Wow, what a trip, me and a friend drove over 1,600 miles from Miami to Boston...and as much as the hours upon hours of driving and falling asleep at the wheel truly sucked, it was more than well worth it. This was my 2nd time seeing Bjork (1st time was 2 years ago in Chicago), and I have to admit this one was better, I managed to get up to about the 9th row center and I had a really good view of this incredible performance, I have seen tons of bjork shows on video and dvd, as well as the other time I had seen her live, but I have never seen Bjork put so much enthusiasm into her performance as she did this night. She just seemed really into it, and seemed totally happy to be there. I don't really wanna get much into a song by song rundown as I thought each song was incredible, but I will tell you I got chills when she played Pagan Poetry....just total perfection!!!! Thank you Bjork, thank you for never settling for anything less than perfection, you are truly the best!!!! /darkestempire - 1651
SHAME ON THE FLEET PAVILLION!!! Bjork = 100... Fleet Pavillion = 0 and unfortunately that averages out to an F. This was my first Bjork concert ever and I was so looking foward to it. I told myself that once I saw Bjork live I could die a happy person but thanks to the FleetPavillion and the extremely rude Event Staff I think I'll have to wait to see another Bjork performace before I can truly "die happy". Who picked the Fleet Pavillion... were they thinking?!? What a horrible venue! I was about 10-12 rows from the stage but to the extreme left. I could see only about 75% of the stage and I was fine with that. I got a pretty good view of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs performance but as soon as Bjork took the stage and everyone stood I could see literally Nothing (not even the big screen), and I knew there were others around me with the same problem. I'm not trying to be a killjoy or anything... I think people have the right to stand and dance around if they want. What I really think is that the venue should have had an area for people to stand that was close to the stage. This wouldn't take any money to fix, only about a half-hour of time and a couple of those a-hole Event Staffers to move around and angle some seats. Because there was virtually no rise to the floor or seating the short people got screwed. Who designed this venue... I've been in old houses with more floor slant. As an immediate reaction me and my friends all stood on the chairs and we could see great. But then Event Staff came over and started flashing their flashlights and pushing and yelling and swearing at us... which is just plain uncalled for. A simple "could you please get down" would have done just fine - a little courtesy goes a long way. So anyway, I decided to move to the back to see better and of course I didn't have any seats in the back so I stood somewhat in the aisle (but keeping a clear path) like other people were doing. Apparently it's fine for some and not for others because two seconds later a real severe looking Event Staffer (yeah, I felt punished just looking at her) came over and told me I had to move... reason: fire hazard. Seriously, I think she was just calling me fat, I mean Come On!!! the aisle was like ten feet wide and if you really want to talk about fire hazards go talk to the people puffin' on the cheebas. I thought general admission meant no seating a.k.a. i can go here, a.k.a. I can go over there, a.k.a. I should be able to walk around without Event Staff following me around like I was a criminal. Because of all this I could not enjoy Bjorks amazing performance at all. In fact, instead of coming out of the concert talking about how great Bjork was we were all bitching about how bad the venue was. Note to the city of Boston: tear that piece of crap venue down and build a real one, or maybe keep it around if you want to have a tea party (because that's about all it's good for). If I had only known I could have got the same concert from the other side of the harbor for free, trust me, I wouldn't have paid $50.00 for a ticket. I absolutely love Bjork and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and to have something like a venue ruin or diminish an artists performance is an atrocity and a shame. Then to top off the night some drunk women backed into my poor little car with her battle tank of an SUV in the parking garage. Please Bjork... don't ever play the Boston Fleet Pavillion again, I implore you! There are way better venues in New England: Merrill Auditorium (Portland, ME) - Whittemore Center (Durham, NH) - The Music Hall (Portsmouth, NH) - Bates College (Lewiston, ME) - Cumberland County Civic Center (Portland, ME) - Avalon (Boston, MA) - FleetCenter (Boston, MA) - Central Maine Civic Center (Lewiston, ME) and those are just a few. P.S. - Sorry to bring anyone down with such a negative review but I just had to vent and if I could have thought of anything positive to say... I would have. P.P.S. - Hey Bjork... Come to Maine, just because nobody else ever does. and remember... !!!BJORK RULES!!! /snowboozer - 1642
Bjork was absolutely amazing as usual. I flew from Michigan for the show...had a little plane detour (lost steering power and hydraulics and made the news!). But it was all well worth it for such a beautiful night. I was a little disappointed that we did not get to go to the afterparty....we tried so hard! Even had a security guard looking for passes for us. But we didn't get in :( I would have loved to tell Bjork what a great performance that was. So, if you read this Bjork - that was an amazing performance....please tour again soon! And please come to Michigan or near by! Thanks to all of the people at the show who helped make it such a great time. I had a blast dancing my ass off to Pluto. And thanks to our Jersey friends who had our own afterparty with us Michiganders! /mochanico - 1614
I drove down from Maine to see this great show. The crowd was excellent and Bjork was both beautiful and vibrant. /pureobscure - 1612
Wow. Even after almost nine hundred miles of motorcycling in the rain to get back home I'm still on fire from this experience. Words are not sufficient tools to convey the taste and spirit of this show. I'll simply note some things as seen from my perspective. It was pure joy from before to after. Before: getting there at breakfast time to see if the line has started, and finding only one soul there, I decide to stay, (instead of exploring Boston more.) I thus meet a delightful woman from Maine and her two companions, who soon returned from their own breakfast. I never got their names but enjoyed nice conversation with them. As the hours, (and the hot sun), wore on I met more friends. Joyce and Aaron. A really cute asian girl who could sit in an amazing posture on the asphalt. Two more friends of Aaron's. Kate and Matt. (Forgive me if I forgot names or mixed any of you up) We formed a loose band who did our best to cope with the drudgery of waiting and the heat of the sun. A special delight that I did not anticipate was being able to hear the sound checks. I thus got to hear a-capella versions of Scatterheart, Pagan Poetry and perhaps six or eight more. This did much to soothe the wait. During: Here is the goodest part. It starts with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, who I found entertaining - especially Karen O's tongue-in-cheek grinning and laughter. One of my newfound friends, Joyce it was, leaned to the stage and yelled to Karen "YOU'RE FUCKING HOT!!" which made me laugh. I'm with you Joyce. Then Björk comes out. Well, Zeena was first on stage, and it was cute the way she seemed suprised or perhaps amused that such a rush of applause would be directed at her, (which it was.) I do admit to much time spent watching Zeena's performance. That harp - along with the strings - I am so glad Björk chooses to work with these. It's soooo good. (I kept repeating that phrase, "It's soooo good", for days afterward). I was lucky to have a front row seat for this one and to see it all from so close is indescribable. It was clear to me that Björk, Zeena, the octet and Matmos all were having a lot of fun that night. The smiles on Björk's face are so sweet. Many times I could see she was flying on the happiness and the energy from the audience. (There was a lot of that...in some few cases perhaps too much...but I won't talk about that). Some things to note: I did not for a second miss the much-touted fireworks. The music is so good and the performance so thoroughly happy that for me there was no need for more. She played Si?asta Ég!! That's one of the 'deeper' songs, the ones I secretly love even though no one seems to mention them much, and it thrilled me madly to hear the first few notes. Just her on vocals and Zeena on the keyboard. It moved me. The pounding version of It's In Our Hands almost knocked me over! Man, I never heard it like that before...WOW. I'm on fire. (I already said that). The copy of the setlist I managed to grab from the stage afterwards lists Mother Heroic in the encore, but she did Generous Palmstroke instead. No disappointment there, although I would have loved to hear Mother Heroic as well. It's all sooooo soooo good! (I was literally crying several times during the show because it's all so lovely.) Oh yes, one thing about a Björk show is the attention to detail that goes in. During one song she was crouched toward stage left, creeping that way, singing, and there was just one red spotlight from the roof shining straight down on her. The way it interacted with the ruffles on her back reminded me of aurora borealis. Like I keep saying...sooo beautiful. On several occasions I had to remind myself to breathe. After: The after is mostly just my own inner joy from experiencing so much that is beautiful and artful that night. Setting aside for a moment the fact that most of this is due to my own devotion to and captivation with Björk, I can honestly say that even for someone who simply likes a well done show no matter who did it this show was one of the best. All was well-crafted, but sweetened with genuine joy and fun. The switch from Suffolk Downs to the Pavilion proved to be very fortunate, as I think the Pavilion turned out to be a much better venue for this. I'm hoping her crew recorded video of this one; I think it would make an excellent dvd offering someday. My sincerest thanks to Björk, Zeena, Matmos, the Icelandic String Octet, and everyone for giving me this wonderful evening! /Sc@tterheart - 1611
WOW, I am still in awe over the other night! this was my second time seeing Bjork, I got to see her at the Wang two years ago, what a venue that was. This one seemed almost as beautiful! When we arrived, much to my disappointment, the line was ever so long and not realizing that there was seating I was figuring that we would never get a decent spot to see our beautiful Bjork.Upon getting inside the arena we realized there was seating and my boyfriend's keen eye spied out seats about 10 rows back in the middle section. That was a decent view and we got to meet some cool people around us too. The sound was spendid and Bjork looked absolutly adorable! What great energy in the room. But then of course all good must come to an end:( At the very end of the concert they let a few rows go to the front and with hesitancy (not knowing if the view would be as good), I finally headed toward the front. A friend of ours had already made it to the very front and I was trying very hard to get to him. Wasn't being rude just trying to say excuse me and get to him. Then this rude fan pushed me on my backside and made the nasty comment," if you want to go to the front then go already".She is very lucky that I din't want to end my lovely evening with Bjork by being escorted out or arrested for turning around and kicking her face in. Anyhow on a better note, to the fan in the swan outfit, I thought that was very creative of you and what a way to get to meet Bjork, other than almost getting run over by her limo, like the other fan, You two must still be in shock having met her and to actually go to an after hour party and sing with her. I envy you!!!!!!! Bjork you're so cool there's nobody that can ever match your creativity and beautious wonder that envelops you!!!! Thanks again for the marvelous memories. And I will be hoping to get to meet you some lucky day!!!!!! Love, Your Biggest Fan /biggestfan - 1608

I was front row center and I couldn't move. This concert was surreal. The YYY's were amazing, for those who didn't appreciate it, well, I think you have to realize that people have been waiting for this kind of rock and roll to return and now it's here and it's fucking fabulous. Karen, can I be your fashion designer? Bjork left me unable to move. Everyone around me was screaming and I didn't even know what to do with myself. I hope you liked our crowd Bjork. I liked what you did with Isobel and Desired Constellation made my heart ache with musical joyfulness. As for the swan man, rock on my friend. /siso - 1603
| I'm still in awe over the whole show, opening act and all. The Yeah Yeah Yeah's totally rocked the venue, but Björk and her crew were even louder and better than i could have ever imagined. . . . I had the pleasure of hearing Desired Constellation for the first time. . . . and i still don't know what to say. Hyper-ballad was among many of my favorites that she performed, and wasn't the music during the intermission while set up was being completed just wonderful? Zeena can get down on that harp ;) the octet was more than amazing, they really put emotion and feeling into the sound of the strings. Matmos, you really help shake the roof and keep Björk happy with the beats :) everyone looked like they had a wonderful time performing. I must say, Björk has really bouncy hair, or maybe she is just really bouncy! So full of energy this one is! All of you who have not seen her perform, this is a MUST SEE PERFORMER! You leave not only happy, but rejuvenated, energized and, ready to run a marathon afterwards. (i felt that way at least) And here come the Sank You's: I am very grateful for having the oportunity of going to the show and meeting a few new and friendly faces. Everyone in Boston are so wonderful and gorgeous. Alison Wonderland, you sooooooooo rock my socks! tossing your feathers, you go boy! ;) Thank you to the people on the subway, without whom we might not have made it to the venue ontime. The people who sat behind us, i didn't catch your names, but thank you for being entertaining while we patiently waited for the show to begin, i had many good laughs. | The show in boston was wonderfull. And as for anyone that bad mouths the Yeah Yeah Yeahs I personally feel they have no musical appreciation even if they like bjork. Bjork by far was awesome but Karen O herself had an amazing stage performance and was the main reason I went to the show. I saw her live 5 times and met the band several times and for three people and two instruments, they can make amazing sound. There is more to the eye then just screaming and yelling. She is actually saying things you know, if you can hold your patience for the opening act and stop thinking 'oh god when is bjork coming on' you may open up to a variety of music. Her clothes (like bjork) are hand made specially for KarenO by Christian Joy. I thought the two shows complemented one another in an event i will never forget. /evanfallyyy - 1599 |
Loved it. First time to see her, and have been waiting since I saw Birthday on 120 mins back in the day. I stopped crying after Aurora. A very wonderful evening, spent with two of my favorite ladies. Who could ask for more? /mudo - 1598
I went to the Friday Brooklyn show and the Boston show... and I must say I missed the flames she had on stage for Yoga and the fireworks through out the show... it just made it so larger than life... though the venue was nice I think her sound was still set up for open air because it didn't sound as crisp in Boston (maybe why she had such a long sound check there?) as it had the week before... but of course absolutely a night to remember... and it was certainly nice to have a seat and not fight for a good view... so with a few trade offs I remember both evenings for their own merits... and for her... nothing short of amazing! - gece /scifiwasabi9000 - 1597
What can I say.... Wow! And I thought no-one could top Metallica. This exotic Icelandic godess emerges in what appeared to be a hand crafted dress with a feathered (bear like) headdress. The music starts and that voice. Oh, that voice.... you know your in for a Bjork amusement ride. Every note.... the louder she got the harder she hit, nearly blows you out of your seat. I didn't want to leave. Crowd was loving her. Boston gave her a warm welcome (my god they where so well behaved *wtg Bean Town. God love the irish*). If you've never seen her and this being my first time.... you just have to go to KNOW! The concert ended too fast for me (thank god for encores). Just warming up myself. I sang my heart out. (for all you people there that turned your heads away to chat or get food or beer. Do us a favor sit in the back next time and save a spot for the real fans! Monkeys =P Oh and the guy in the bird outfit. You go! =P Bee do us a favor. Come back soon. Love Brine See you in chat sometime possibly maybe. /Brine - 1595
How can one begin to define such an experience? Notwithstanding my own inability to adequately describe or convey such wanton emotion, it's occasions such as these we reach the boundaries and probe the limitations of our language. As to the journey; I traveled a thousand miles and dispatched a thousand dollars (air, hotel, etc) to share this night with Bjork. So perhaps it is an appropriate, and in my estimation fair, exchange that I return with a thousand memories. Of the thousand remembrances I carry with me of that evening, one I would like most to share: For a single moment, 5000 spirits coexisted in rapt silence, riveted in awe by Bjork’s inspired performance of Sidasta Eg. I swear to you I could hear the person next to me breathing softly, sustaining life while feeding the inner being. I felt as if time itself had somehow synchronized with Bjork; crouching, rocking in a near fetal position as she passionately freed the melody from her own soul to share with us. I am overcome now as I was then. A moment in Bjork’s presence, regardless of physical proximity, escapes the gravitational pull of prosaic elucidation. /Meloncholy_PgBoy - 1594
a most amazing show indeed. a true honor to witness such unity in a performance. i hope she comes around again next year. /jsb43 - 1593
My first Bjork live event. Venue seemed good, though I did have a great seat near the front and center. Introduced to Bjork by my lover a few years back; seeing her live was fantastic, seeing her with my lover was sublime. Crowd seemed (from my perspective) well-behaved and into it. The people we met waiting in line and in the Pavilion were almost all very nice and interesting. Sadly, one odious little man, seated behind us, spent most of the evening loudly and obnoxiously denigrating everything and everyone in view. Luckily, the volume of Bjork's set was loud enough so that I didn't have to do anything that would generate bad karma. Bjork definitely warmed to the material and audience as the set moved on. The YYYs were an odd choice as a warm-up act;, their music was too thin, too abrasive and all-too-been-done-before. All the ass-shaking and the tossing of mikes couldn't redeem it. Too bad. And this comment is from someone who basically lived on the Sex Pistols, Clash, Circle Jerks, Gang of Four etc. all those years ago. I was much impressed by the great lengths people went to to be there; all those miles traveled, all those arrangements executed. She does inpire passion. /GIJOE - 1592
My first Bjork concert. Enchanting, overwhelming, exhilerating! Bjork was in fine voice, indeed! Only regret was being so far from the stage. I wish I had brought binoculars. It seemed at times that the sound system was not up to the density of mix, but that's a minor thing. Being there, feeling it all, was enough. THANK YOU, BJORK! /skyisland - 1591
Wonderful concert. Bjork is truly unique and I will always enjoy her. As for the swan/feather guy, etc. His name is Alison Wonderland, and I thought the costume was beautiful. Creativity is what it's about and I'm suprised to read some of the negative comments. (especially the one from someone who thought he was too tall... like height is adjustable or something). Alison and I (thanks to the generosity of Joga) got the opportunity to meet Bjork and the crew back stage after the show. We had such an amazing time. Thank you Bjork, and a special thanks to Joga. /jamesndc - 1590
No one sat down. Why would you? From the opening note I knew this was a very special moment. It was a blessing be alive and hear what I can only describe as musical ecstacy in a tribal techno gentle yet thrashing sort of Bjork way that makes you scream with delight while in the next moment you find yourself crying at the sheer heartbreaking delicacy of a string or her solo voice. And the video projections were stunning. Bravo to Bjorkand her amazing musical experiments. Cheers. /dona nobis pacem - 1589
Oh, and of course....the Goddess was absolutely wonderful. Although it did seem that it took her a few songs to really warm up to the crowd and the venue, once she got a head of steam going, she put out 100%. Particularly loved the way she used her arms and body during percussive parts of Hunter, and her volcanic leaps and kicks during Pluto. I had binoculars, so was able to see the amazing make-up and detail on her "whimsical" costume that most couldn't really appreciate. What a beautiful, appealing creature she is. It's so easy for artists to be angry, and it's been done done done. Our world needs more peace, love and understanding. Bjork is an artist who can sing about ECSTACY, beauty, and the human condition with honest complexity and insight. And she can really bang a beat, too. True genius. She gives me such great joy and HOPE. Thank you forever, dear Bjork. Can't wait to see some photos of the show here. The feather guy.....well....nice eyelashes....... /jodnik - 1588
*Amazing*!! I saw Bjork at the Wang a couple years ago and this had a completely different atmosphere so, to me, it's rather difficult to compare the two performances of exquisiteness. Surprisingly, "It's In Our Hands" was my favorite song performed...it really got it all going into "Pluto" which completely ~exploded~ everyone!! I knew she couldn't end it with such an enormous climax...the encore was brilliance. Great view too, I'm picking up my pictures (that I so sneakily took) this evening and I will post if they come out nice. Ahh... Gorgeousness! She's still inside me!!! /jadeauroraglow - 1587
What a perfect day for a concert! and what a concert! It was my first time seeing Bjork live and I do believe I'll be making future efforts to do so. Great friendly crowd (where I was by the sound pit). The response to the toppling microphone was nearly as hilarious as Bjorks own. Fantastik! Tsk tsk to the lad who got removed for taking photos. /Groovis - 1586
P.s. I would also like to say I have high respect to the guy dressed in the feathers and white make-up. You Rule! /skycamefalling - 1583
My 2nd Bjork concert; first was the Vespertine tour at the Wang 2 years ago. Although I am twice the age of most of the fans there, I had a great time (the time flew!) in line for 2.5 hours with the crowd. Thanks to the couples we met from Michigan, Atlanta and Jersey who were so much fun. Ended up on the left aisle of row 12, fantastic view. Attended with my Lover, whom I had introduced to Bjork as soon as we got together (love me, love Bjork). I knew I was in for yet another ecstatic experience. The YYY's were a great disappointment. They are not only totally derivative--they were boring as hell--AND I was listening to music like that 22 years ago at the Rat, when it was fresh and REAL. The lead singer was a poseur who could only rasp and shake her ass. I couldn't wait for them to finish their really lame set. It seemed likely that she'd open with Hunter, so I was prepared. When she actually began to sing, I was totally overcome with the ecstacy of it all. The night was perfect; I was with my Beloved, Mars was in the sky, there were cool breezes, and Bjork and the band were on stage. And so we (myself and the 1000's of other fans) began our communal journey. The set was perfect, with some nice surprises. Visuals were fantastic and really added to the experience. LOVED Pluto, a song I never really enjoyed on CD. Hearing it live, the way it was played, however, has totally convinced me of the raw and wonderful power of the song. The entire pavilion was throbbing with ecstatic, tribal energy. Isobel was astoundingly powerful and beautful. Truly, every song was a tour de force. Great to Zeena and Matmos with her again; geniuses that certainly know how to create a magical environment. The octet was wonderful as well, and yes, they did look bemused by the crowd's antics and responses. The Pavilion was a good venue; good crowd control, sound, and sight lines. There are always assholes in every crowd, yes, even amongst Bjork fans, but NO ONE could possibly have spoiled the evening. She's so fookin LOVEABLE!!!!!! /jodnik - 1582
BJORK LA MAS GRANDE DE TODAS, PERO JAMAS SE VENDE COMO OTRAS.... /ARTURBJORK - 1580
this was my second time seeing björk i drove 12 hours from detroit to boston for this slepdid evening, and she did not let me down for one second. i arrive at the pavilion rather late...about an hour before the show and was at the end of a VERY long line and i was about to cry because the seating was first come first serve, but after the line divided into boy girl for searching i found myself VERY far ahead and managed to get third row for the show...and i about cried. the only down side of the seats was that there were amps blocking about 30% of the screen where she was showing all the visuals, but i could see everything that was being shown on them from little tv's that where on the side of the stage, they played all the videos to all the songs that she sang that had videos, but no one else could see them, so that was fun. björk was fucking amazing. that is about all i can say. i saw her on her last tour in chicago and i thought that was the best show that i have ever seen, but this show was a million times better. during this show she seemed more into it, she came running out, with her green feather ears and went right into it, and by the end of "hunter" she was running all over the stage and i don't think she ever stopped. she is by far the cutest thing that i have ever seen and i forgot how much fun she is just to watch. her set list was perfect. she played so much off of homogenic that i almost could not handel it. "5 years" is one of my top favorite björk songs and she nailed it, and did some cute stomping on the stage before hand. "pluto" was fucking amazing and surprising, everyone was rocking out. "sídasta èg" shocked me and i VERY glad that she played it, i liked the music box version that she did. i really wanted her to play "scary" but was not too disappointed when i t was not played. everything else that she played made up for it. i was impressed with how well she pulled off the "spt" version of "it's in our hands, it was one of the best songs played during the night. i was a bit sadden by the fact that the flames and fireworks did not happen, i was really looking forwads to seeing them, especially since i was an ad for the show for when it was supposed to be at suffolks down, and it promised a full fireworks display, but it was something that i honestly did not even realize until now. long story short, björk was AMAZING and i don't think that she could have been better, i hope she comes back and comes back VERY soon!!! i do however have to complain about some of the crowd, where i was amazed that for the most part everyone was more or less silent for all of her singing, behavior from the crowd was not so impressive. i saw a lot of people get escorted out by guards, get in fights with guards and have a complete lack of respect for everyone around them ESPECIALLY the man that dressed allin white...if you were at the show and saw him, you know who i speak of. and i hope he is reading this...you are about 6 foot 6 and wore huge fucknig platform shoes, you wore a huge feather outfit that looked shitty, you wore glowsticks all over and stood right in front of me the entire show even if you were in the very front. my asking you to sit or move did not matter, you continued to tower in front of me making it almost impossible to see the stage 10 feet in front of me. and EVERY time björk came over to our side of the stage, you threw up your hands and threw fucking feathers all over and waved your glow stick. did you really need to be noticed by her that much? are you that selfish that you did not care that you ruined other people's experience...i guess not also thanks for all the people that rushed the stage, having chairs thrown into me was awesome /fakeplasticbjork - 1579
:o) Thanks Bjork! I hope to see you again /cold_iceland - 1578
I've been to hundreds of concerts, from some of the best performers in the world. But this may have been the best. Bjork does more than just sing and play music - the final product ends up being more elaborate and interesting than a Broadway show! I'd really love to have a good photo of Bjork in that outfit, especially from the beginning of the show when she was wearing the feather earpieces. That sent the message right away that this would not be an ordinary concert experience! I would also be in complete rapture to have a recording of this show. It's something I never want to forget. If I didn't have so many commitments, I'd drop everything and follow Bjork around the world! Bjork, if you are reading this, thank you for being a bright light in a dark world. It means more than you know. /Vomizak - 1577
This was my third Bjork experience and I have to say that she never lets me down. A wonderful, captivating show... Bjork was in top form and I was pleasantly surprised to see that the Boston Pavilion is set up very well... there really isn't a "bad" seat in the place. Not only did she sound great, but Bjork's visuals were superb as well, from the computer-generated images on the screen behind her to her blue feather earpieces. I love watching her dance too :) The one-two-three punch of "Hyperballad," "It's In Our Hands" and "Pluto" was the perfect way to close the show (before the encore). It brought the energy level through the roof! Come back to Boston soon, Bjork! On a side note, I want to send a big "fuck you" to the black-haired, hoop-earring-wearing chick who decided to stand on her chair two rows in front of us. You are an obnoxious, immature, selfish, evil, ugly cuntbag. When your friend joined you on the chair next to you and we all asked for you to please step down so that we could see, your friend graciously did so, but you continued to stand on your chair, even though we REPEATEDLY asked you to step down. Not only did you contiunue to stand on your chair, but you even looked back at us several times and completely ignored our requests. Your boyfriend is a big pussy too... we asked him to ask you to step down and his brilliant response was "You'll have to ask her." Your hideous behavior marred what could have been a perfect evening. I was just glad we were smart enough to move to a different section, far away from you. I hope the people sitting next to us (who also couldn't see and who also asked for you to please sit down) were able to find a better seat, too. You're disgusting and rude and I hope you got into a car accident on the way home. /ericorbit - 1574
8/31/03 was a truly magical day for me. It was my first concert and by far the most intense musical experience. Bjork’s performance was beautiful, touching, powerful, and passionate. I look forward to taking every opportunity to hear her live again. I knew that I loved her music but I now know that I further cherish it close to my heart…. ( I wasn’t able to take any photos I hope that someone posts some soon). /acores75 - 1573
I drove up from NYC to see this show, and it was well worth it! Bjork (and ALL her musicians) sounded GREAT, and I specifically enjoyed the version of "Pluto." Great way to end the first set and go into the break, and the crowd was pumped! PS-it was also a good weekend for me cos the yanks took two of three from the sox /don_nyusa - 1570
Well, I was SO excited about this show... it was my first Bjork experience and I was reading everyone's reviews of the shows preceding ours here in Boston for weeks. As a result, I have to say that my expectations for the show were VERY high.... as most people's reviews here were so glowing. Bjork exceeded my every hope for the show... afterward, I kept trying to find the right words.... ASTONISHING was the best I could find. I spent most of the night standing fifth row center gaping, amazed, hand clamped over my mouth, tears streaming down my cheeks... this woman is a God(dess)send in a world of stupid music and stupid performers... she is everything I need right now, she is a Source of such Light and Magic. I initially thought that the lack of pyro would be a bummer, but once Bjork came out, I was riveted. I didn't want to say goodbye... SO many great moments. "Isobel"....OH! "Bachelorette"....AH! By the time she hit us hard with "Pluto", the place was HOPPING... I felt like I was doing the Pogo all over again! I did see the string octet watching the crowd's reactions to the show all night.... they were just smiling at all of us in the front and watching us intently... it was great to see that. For my part, Bjork, anytime you are in this area, wherever, whenever, at whatever price, I will be there. You are a true amazement, a treasure.... thank you for YOU, for the music, and the priceless gift of your voice and your genius. Don't be a stranger.... come back soon! We love you! Michael (mjf2001) /mjf2001 - 1569
First I would would like to thank the yeah yeah yeahs for an excellent opening show. The outfit was gorgoues, Karen's voice was unique, and the band was loud and talented. Her ear to ear smile made me realize that she came out here to kick some ass and have some fun. GOOD JOB! As for Bjork...WOW! This was my 1st Bjork show, and I have never felt so amazing at a concert before. She is the real deal, something out of this world. Minus out all the really really drunk people climbing chairs, tossing beer, and shouting stuff no one could understand, it was probably the best show I've ever been to. She danced, she freakin sang so well I couldn't believe I was standing there witnessing this. I was in the 2nd row from the stage and got a good glimpse at her musical support, along with the guy shuffling his feet for Aurora. The pyro was missed, but I didn't come to see her being lit on fire, I came so see her put on a crazy show. Lastly I would like to thank Bjork for giving me hope in the future of music. Guiding me through the mess of unimaginary music of today and showing me that there is still charisma, energy, imagination, beauty, and even love in music. I am forever grateful for sharing your talents to all of us in Boston. Good luck on all your endeavors. /skycamefalling - 1568
I heard Bjork at Coney Island. Last night I saw her up close from row. She was flawless and so energetic. I felt evry song through me. Coney Island wasn't as intimate considering I was seated far removed from the performance. It was a beatiful night in Boston too. Bjork is so special. I drove back to NY this morning still thinking about last nights show and her wild outfit. Love Loved it!!!!!! /Aponte - 1567
Personally, the show was the best show of my life. Her enchanting voice was flawless, hitting every mind blowing note. Her energy was overwhelming as well as were the crowds. Every song was perfect and resonated out it in waves through the venue. I cannot see any reason for dissappointment. Also, I agree with the "fuck you" to all those who chose to light up during the show. Personally I don't mind, but I think that at a show such as Bjork where vocals are more important than anything smoking anything is selfish and universally rude. As for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, her voice could be put to better use than piercing screams that will just blow out her vocals. /Bjorkhead17 - 1566
Oh wow... what an outstanding show! Having the Yeah Yeah Yeahs there to open was great... I'd only heard of them through my friend Muffy. Karen O was awesome! When Björk finally came on, it was totally magic. The intro to "Hunter" just wrapped itself around the members of the audience, and it appeared everyone was in Björk's hypnotic spell for the rest of the night. Although I loved every number she performed, my absolute favorite moments were "Jøga", "All Is Full Of Love", "Isobel", "Bachelorette", "Hyper-ballad" and "Human Behaviour". Like so many others, Muffy, our friend Tea-Rag and I arrived quite a bit early. Those folks who arrived the night before and early in the morning definitely were entitled to those seats closest to the stage. We arrived a little before 3 pm, and we were in the seventh row. Quite annoying to observe those who couldn't get their own asses in gear a little earlier trying to worm their ways into seats that were already taken. Should have been a little more creative, like those people with their fake leg injuries (and crutches -- nice touch!) who got to park themselves with Swannie in the front left section. Directly in front of us was one young lady who seemed pleasant enough -- minding her own business, enjoying the show. Along comes two vultures -- a couple of women attempting to hit on the young lady -- seems all they wanted was to join her in her seat to be closer to the stage. Fine by me, but was it necessary fo the one in the glasses to stand on her chair, blocking our view, shaking her fist and dancing her ass in our faces? I kept hoping she'd be busted by security, but security seemed per-occupied with chomping gum and gawking at Swannie. Back to the show -- a magnificent night indeed. Once "Human Behaviour" was over, we began our journey back to Muffy's zabe-mobile. Well, we were taking our time, and not paying much attention to the traffic, as Tea-Rag stepped into the street without looking. A white limousine screeched to a halt, narrowly missing clobbering poor, poor Tea-Rag. The right rear window of the limo began to open -- at first I thought some rich snob was gonna yell at us... but of all people, Björk was sitting there, and asked if everything was all right! Right there on Seaport Boulevard! Well, of course Muffy, Tea-Rag and I told her we love her, we love her, we love her... she told us there was going to be a little "after-the-show" party back at the Four Seasons... and would we like to join them! So we piled into the limo with Björk, and off to the Four Seasons we went. Björk had a piano in her suite, so Muffy played, and Zeena was there on harp, while we all sang "Big Time Sensuality", "Army Of Me", "Venus As A Boy", "It's Oh So Quiet", "My Spine", "I Miss You" and "Anchor Song". I speak fluent Icelandic, and Björk and I duetted on "Gling-Gló". We left the Four Seasons at 5:30 a.m. What a night!!! Thank you, Björk! /Big_Time_Björn - 1565
I won't glow needlessly about last night's show. Björk continues to be fresh, enchanting, and, quite possibly the cutest damn thing on earth. I had never seen her live, so the experience was great. I particularly loved feeling the music just climb into me from the feet up. Could definitely have done without the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. . .Karen's screaming covers up anything good the other two might come up with. There was nothing particularly amazing about the show. . .some of the artvideo was pretty cool, other times superfluous. The crowd gave good energy, but I was more than irritated at those who wished to hear their own voices in the more quiet and poignant moments as in "You've Been Flirting Again" and "Generous Palmstroke." It was great to hear "Heirloom," and despite not being a big fan of "Pagan Poetry," the music really was quite intoxicating. And a big fuck you to all who felt it necessary to light up inside. . .way to think only of yourselves. /spenbald - 1564
The show was wow, wow, and wow. To put it short, it was like I was standing in the crowd in the live DVDs. Bjorks voice was on the money and only got better throughout the concert. She was dressed in an exotic outfit with flower petals around her ears. SHe took those off though after the third song, I think. The set list was awsome, with Bachelorette and Heirloom being a suprise for me. THe videos that went with Desired Constellation, It's in Our Hands, and Pluto were awsome. It's in Our Hands was particularly funny, with penciled dicks drawn sketchily over photographs. You just have to see it. There was a string octet in the center of the stage and Matemos on the right and Zeena on the left (facing the stage). Bjork stood (danced) in the center and occasionally danced all around the stage. I was in the center third row, about ten feet from the stage. Wow, it was like a dream. Bjorks voice was from another world. She was energetic and perfect. The acousitcs of the Pavilion were unbeleivable, although the fireworks that I have heard go with the concert were not able to be used. The only bad thing that happened was that there was this one crazy women a row in front of me that was obsessed and caused all this commotion that distracted my self and people around her during You've Been Flirting Again and Isobel before she was hauled off by the stage crew (thanks guys, although I still think that you should have just knocked her out ;) Besides that, no complaints. The crowd was energetic and on their feet and dancing from Hunter. There was even a guy painted white and wearing a swan dress in the crowd, that was pretty cool. My favorites were It's In Our Hands, Pluto, and Generous Palmstroke. The first two had so much energy, then to go into the calm and soothing Generous Palmstroke in the encore, wow. Just, Just wow. That was the best concert of my life. Next time she comes around, you better believe that I will be first in line. Thanks for the good show Bjork. Aieeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! Do you like sulfur? -dragonlver13 /dragonlver13 - 1562
second time seeing bjork. simply amazing. choked up the entire time. i hope its not another 2 years before seeing here again. thank you bjork. /nrok311 - 1556
As everyone might say...where do i begin? Well how about the opening act, Yeah Yeah Yeah's. Had never heard them before and didnt know what to expect and was pleasently surpised. Just a drummer, guitarist and vocalist and they all borrowed from many types of musicians from the past. The drummer was excellent with almost a tribe-like sound to the drumming and the guitarist as well adding some chopyy flourishes to the mix, but the highlight was the lead vocalist. Her stage persona and the way she carried herself was a strong mix of Joey Ramone and Pat Benatar. On top of that her voice was a dead ringer for Siouxise Sioux. Her constant smiling at her tongue-in-cheek performance was refreshing as this style of music could very easily fall into the hands of a group taking themselves way too seriously, but they were an excellent opening act and it showed from the warmth and ovations they slowly built through the show. As always Bjork impressed everyone. After seeing her at both NYC Coney Island shows it was kind of worrisome thinking of seeing her again in another non-intimate setting. Tonight was my 9th time seeing Bjork and have always seen her in 1500 capacity clubs up until the Vespertine tour. This years NYC shows were good, but lacked, as probably does with most artists, as you need to be close to really see and feel what she is performing for you. Tonights show was luckily, in my opinion, moved to the awfully named FleetBoston Pavilion (formerly Harborlights). Me and my mates got 6th row right on the aisle (first come first serve seating) and were incredibly close and it made all the better. From feeling the subtle beats in Aurora to the live-wire instensity of Pluto. All which couldnt be felt at Keyspan Park in Coney Island, unless you were lucky enough to get as close as you could amongst 8,000 others. Hopefully some pictures will emerge but Bjork was stunning as usual in her black frilly dress with pink stars, and the beautiful bright blue feather headdress adorning each ear. The Pavilion suddenly felt smaller and she was connecting with everyone in this different setting. The entire crowd was rapturous from beginning to end and showed nothing but love and adoration for her and all members of her band. Being up close you could see on the faces of the Icelandic String Octet, Zeena Parkins and Matmos that they were quite enamored with the affection the crowd showed tonight. For me highlights were Sidasta Eg which id never heard live before and was just beautiful. The new song, Desired Constellation with its beautiful imagery of "a palm full of stars" and its piercing line of "how am I going to make things right". Aurora's beautiful ending of "spark that sun up for me" which was missing the Greenlandic choir a bit! 5 years with it's jumpy volcanic beats (and Bjork hitting her chest and tempting the crowd with "i dare you to take me on"). An Echo, A Stain with its oceanic feel and sudden earthquake like beats that crunch through the middle with Bjork belting "a staaaaaaaa-AAAAA-aaaain" over the top of it all. The It's In Our Hands mix really got everyone from the stage to the floor into it, just getting ready for the pounding of Pluto. The encore was the highlight with the beautiful Generous Palmstroke and its line "a generous palmstroke, the hugest of hugs" and Zeena playing the harp so beautifully. Then its Human Behaviour and its wonderful strings throughout, to a Beatles like buildup and ending. The fireworks were defintiely missed. They werent overwhelming in NYC and added a nice touch to just the right moments, especially in the always crowd favorite, Hyper-Ballad. The spinning sparkler trees and stage pyrotechnics were also missed a bit, but Bjork never needs anything else but her voice and she always commands the stage no matter what. Great show again from Bjork and here's hopin' she keeps up what shes been doing for 20 years. /The Ghost - 1555

Isobel 13. Bachelorette 14. Hyper-Ballad 15. It's In Our Hands 16. Pluto -- 17. Generous Palmstroke 18. Human Behaviour The show was absolutely one of the best I've ever seen; the audience was pumped, the musicians were energetic (just look at Zeena!), and we got treated to great songs. The setlist seemed to be very different than from previous, but we still got debuts or new songs other than Desired Constellation. But that doesn't mean I'm disappointed by the experience. It was one of the best nights of my life (so far, I'm a bit young). My friends and I danced, cried, and danced some more to every song, and I couldn't have asked for more. I am very grateful that Björk swung by on her trip to the US, as many people around the world don't get to see a concert by her. So thank you very much to anyone else who was there tonight. It was great. /patrizi0 - 1553 |
